Thursday, 09 August 2012Life has been good for the Oakland A's for the past six weeks, and it has a chance to get better if right-hander Brandon McCarthy, who starts the opener of a three-game series against the White Sox on Friday at U.S. Cellular Field, comes back from a stay on the disabled list at the same level he was performing before he got hurt.
Life also has been good for the White Sox, who have been stubbornly holding off the Tigers from their first-place perch in the American League Central.
Right-hander Gavin Floyd, McCarthy's mound opponent on Friday, has done his part to help the White Sox cause, but he's coming off a performance in which he allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings.
