Madrid open Tennis Betting OddsOnline Tennis Betting: The Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, thankfully better known as the Madrid Open, is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and a Permier Mandatory event on the WTA tour. That means all the best players in the world will be there, you guys. This year's tourney kicks off at the Magic Box Tennis venue in Madrid, Spain. The WTA portion is set to begin first, a week prior to the ATP leg. Bet on tennis matches at Bookmaker!

The Magic Box is one of the most impressive new stadiums in the world. Featuring clay courts and a sweet-looking design, even the mayor of Madrid is pimping it as one of the best sporting facilities in the world. Sounds like a good place to hold one of the bigger events in both men's and women's tennis.

Rafael Nadal enters as the defending champ. With his win over nemesis Roger Federer at the Madrid Open last season, he became the first player to win all three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court tournaments in the same year. That is kind of a really specific statistic, but it was listed in bold so it must be important. Anyways, he's the world No. 1 and the definite favorite to take this tournament. The guy's playing on his home field and on clay -- this tournament is his to lose.

Swede Roger Federer has been doing a lot of losing to Nadal these days, but he's still one of the best in the world -- if not best in history. He lost 6-4, 7-6(5) last year to Nadal, but still has a 22-4 record at the Magic Box. With his well-rounded skills, it would be a shock not to see him advant to at least the quarter-finals.

In the women's field, France's Aravane Rezai upset American Venus Williams to take the Madrid Open last year, and she's expected to be back this season two go for the repeat. Rezai, currently ranked No. 24 in the world capped off a Cindarella run in one of the world's biggest women's tournaments, and is a living reminder that the games are played for a reason.

Both the Williams sisters are epxected to be in the tourney, as are top players Caroline Wozniacki, Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonoreva. The women's field is bound to be littered with the top players, and NOBODY does drama like the tennis women. From Serena's crazy tennis outfits to Sharapova's hotness, the WTA is often much more popular than the ATP.

Of course, players sometimes pull out due to injury or personal reasons. Remember to keep checking back at Bookmaker for updated odds and lines to matches from the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open. Odds are set after tournament draws are played out.

Novak Djokovic poised to claim world No.1 ranking

Novak Djokovic's transformation from pretender to contender can be traced directly to Dr Igor Cetojevic, who last year discovered the dual Australian Open champion Djokovic has a gluten allergy.

Djokovic cut some of his favourite foods - including pizza and pasta - from his diet and now is poised to take Nadal's crown.

With Nadal having to defend victories from last season at the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open - a massive 6000 rankings points - it could happen within weeks.

Djokovic yesterday revelled in his third consecutive win against Nadal, inflicting the Spaniard's first claycourt defeat in the Madrid Masters final and landing the sixth title of his unbeaten year.

Djokovic's 7-5 6-4 victory not only breathed fresh life into the French Open but also had Andre Agassi's former coach Brad Gilbert describing the Serb's backhand as the best since Agassi's.

Djokovic is unbeaten in 32 matches this season and is closing on John McEnroe's record of 42-0, set in 1984.

Cetojevic travelled with the previously sickly Djokovic to Melbourne for the Australian Open, helping him further distance himself from scorn as a player prone to retiring when the battle was too fierce.
