Nigeria World Cup Betting OddsFIFA World Cup Betting: Once upon a time, many felt as though Nigeria would be the first African nation to ever lift the World Cup. Though that may happen at some point, this doesn't appear to be the year that Super Eagles beat the World Cup odds thanks to a group with really only one open qualifying slot and a very sinister looking draw in the knockout round should they advance.

Nigeria showed that it has certainly stepped down in class as one of the top African nations in qualification for this event. It struggled in two draws against Tunisia and needed to score a 3-2 win in the final qualifier against Kenya just to make it to the World Cup.

Keep a close eye on D Joseph Yobo. No, Yobo won't be a goal scorer in all likelihood at any point during this tournament, but if the Nigerians are going to have any success, they are going to have to play strong in defense. Yobo has picked up a ton of international experience playing with Everton in the English Premier League, and he'll have to translate that over into a great showing in June for his country to survive the group stage.

That defense may have only conceded five goals during the entire qualification process in Africa, but this is a whole new ballgame in a Group C which includes mighty Argentina as well as Korea and Greece. There's no reason that the Super Eagles shouldn't be able to advance behind Argentina in the group stage, but even then, a potential matchup with France awaits. See a World Cup betting line of Nigeria at +10000 is warranted.
