NASCAR Betting Online: The NASCAR Nationwide Series returns to a more traditional track after two straight road races, including one all the way up in the cold confines of Montreal, Canada, to throw down the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bet on the NASCAR Nationwide Series online with this event on August 23, as some of the top young drivers in the sport go head to head at one of the more iconic venues.
A Friday night race, the Food City 250 should have ample enough glitz and glam to intrigue the gambler to put his money down. Plus, once you have made your wager, you can check out the high octane action live on ESPN at 7:30 PM ET.
The Food City 250 has been around by other names since 1982. A year from its 30th anniversary, and the event has never been better.
Last year, Kyle Busch outraced Jason Leffler and Elliot Sadler to bring home another victory for Joe Gibbs Racing. Busch was the tenth different winner in ten years, since Kevin Harvick won back to back races in from 2000 to 2001.
Originally called the Pet Dairy 150, which sounds like someone just picked two random words out of the dictionary and smashed them together, the Food City 250 is the second Nationwide Series race of the season to take place at Bristol.’
Earlier this year, Busch made it two straight NASCAR Nationwide Series wins at Bristol, taking the Scotts EZ Seed 300 with the fastest time, 1:52:39, since the event moved to 200 laps in 2006, not counting Clint Bowyer’s shortened 2008 win. Look for this year to be the next great installment of the Food City 250.
How to bet on Nascar Food City 250
The odds of a driver to win the Food City 250 will generally look something like:
- Jeff Gordon + 200
- Mark Martin + 250
- Jeff Burton + 300
- Bill Elliott + 700
- Robby Gordon + 700
- Field + 500
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a driver to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $20 that Jeff Gordon will win the Food City 250, while the bettor wagering on Bill Elliott stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in NASCAR is head-to-head finish between two drivers. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the driver finishes in, as long as the driver finishes higher than the other driver.
A head-to-head betting line for the Food City 250 will look something like:
- Mark Martin - 130 Jeff Burton + 110
In this bet, players wagering on Martin to finish higher than Burton will be asked to risk $13 to win $10, while bettors believing that Burton will finish higher than Martin will bet $10 to win $11.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to NASCAR wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of NASCAR betting without too much hassle.
2012 Food City 250 Winner - Logano gets 1st Bristol victory in Nationwide race
Joey Logano used an early pit stop and a dominant car Friday night to win at Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time in the Nationwide Series.
Logano chased down Kevin Harvick, then held on over a series of late cautions for his sixth victory of the season.
Logano led 119 laps but finished fourth in March. A year ago, he was second after leading 12 laps.
Defending series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was second, followed by Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Elliott Sadler.
Danica Patrick, who struggled all day at Bristol, rebounded to finish ninth. It's the third-best finish of her career and the fifth top-10 in Nationwide. She'll also race in the Cup event Saturday night.
Stenhouse and Sadler had contact on the final restart, with three laps remaining in Friday night's race. Stenhouse immediately went to Sadler's car and apologized.
Stenhouse cut three points from Sadler's lead, and trails Sadler by 19 points in the championship race. Sadler wasn't impressed with Stenhouse's apology.
2011 Food City 250 Winner - Kyle Busch held off Joey Logano in a near-dead heat
Kyle Busch pulled off his 50th Nationwide Series win, after managing to hold off his Cup team mate Joey Logano to the line in a near-photo finish in the Friday night Food City 250 race at Bristol Motorspeedway.
Busch had led the first half of the race - all 112 laps - only to get passed in traffic by Clint Bowyer who managed to retain the lead through pit stops and a sequence of rapid-fire cautions until Joey Logano took over in front by staying out when others pitted.
Busch's 50th series win finally beats the record held by Mark Martin to put Busch into the history books - and still aged only 26.
