Arena: Road America
Location: Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin
Date: June 23, 2012
NASCAR Betting Online: The Road America 200 held its inaugural race in June 2010 to a resounding success. NASCAR made its return to Road America after a 55 year absence. The road course in Elkhart Lake, WI, is a peculiar choice for a Nationwide event that would normally be held in some oval-variation track such as Michigan International Speedway in the event before.
However, last year’s Bucyrus 200 saw NASCAR veteran and star Carl Edwards take home the checkered flag. Edwards completed the fifty lap, 200 mile race with an average speed of 68.501, significantly slower than what the driving superstar is used to.
NASCAR moved to Road America from the Milwaukee Mile after complications with the Wisconsin State fair forced them away from the traditional track for the event.
What was once a scheduling conflict is now an interesting divergence from the norm in the Nationwide Series.
The only other winner of a NASCAR event at Road America is Tim Flock. Good ol’ Timmy won the 258 mile race back on August 12, 1956, driving a 1956 Mercury and collecting a whopping $2,950 in prize money. Interestingly, Flock bested Carl Edwards average speed by more than five miles per hour.
A funky, almost backwards “C” shape, the road course has 14 turns and is 4.048 miles long.

2011 Bucyrus 200 Winner - Sorenson Perseveres At Road America
Reed Sorenson and Ron Fellows each thought they won the BUCYRUS 200 at Road America late Saturday afternoon but after a brief period of uncertainty, NASCAR official ruled Sorenson as winner of the Nationwide Series race. Three green-white-checkered restarts spiced the late-race action, adding seven extra laps to the event. A wreck on the final restart ended the race when the yellow flag was unfurled with both drivers believing they were the benefactors.
Sorenson led just one lap but it was the final one, which earned him a win for the first time in four years and the fourth of his Nationwide career. He drove the Dollar General Chevrolet.
Nationwide races on road courses tend to be exciting and this event will go down as a classic. Throughout the Saturday's 50-lap race around the 14-turn, four-mile road course, the competitors battled fiercely, which led to considerable fender rubbing, off-course excursions and a few wrecks.
