Talladega AArons 499 Betting Odds NASCAR Betting Online: Aaron’s name is derived from a sponsorship agreement with the Aaron's chain of lease-to-own stores. The "499" advertised distance is designed to mimic the chain's tendencies to offer rentals "For $99" per month. It is important to mention this race is slightly over 500 miles in length.

The Aaron's 499 is a NASCAR Sprint Cup stock car race held at Talladega Superspeedway. The race is one of four races currently run with restrictor plates.

The 1997 event, won by Mark Martin, stands as the fastest NASCAR race to date ever run, at an average speed of 188.354 mph (303.126 km/h). It was the first race at Talladega run without a caution flag.

In 2009, the final battle was between Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards at the finish – a late duel which resulted in Keselowski unintentionally bumping Edwards’ car and turning it sideways, but Edwards walked away unharmed.

2012 Aaron's 499 Winner - Talladega win shows Keselowski can deliver Penske first Cup

With moves that left two of NASCAR's best drivers slack-jawed Sunday, Brad Keselowski delivered Penske Racing its first Sprint Cup victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 38 years of trying.

Team owner Roger Penske thinks Keselowski is a world-class driver and could lead the team to more uncharted territory by the end of the 2012 season: the head table reserved for NASCAR's Cup champion at the postseason awards ceremony.

With his second Cup victory at Talladega (his first came in April 2009 for owner James Finch), the 28-year-old stamped himself as a serious contender for the Cup championship.

Keselowski is ranked 12th in the standings. But his two victories this season put him in strong position to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup title run as a wild card if he doesn't claim a top-10 points berth. His other victory this season came at 0.533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway, putting him in victory lane at one of the circuit's shortest and longest (2.66-mile Talladega) tracks.

2011 winner

A mere 0.145s covered the top eight cars at the end of 500 miles - 188 laps - at Talladega Superspeedway, with a photofinish required before the win was duly awarded to Jimmie Johnson by a margin of just 0.002s over Clint Bowyer. The win is Johnson's first in 2011 after a 15-race winless streak, but his 54th Sprint Cup career victory and his second time in victory lane at Talladega. The margin of victory equals the championship's closest-ever margin since electronic timing was introduced, the last time being at Darlington in 2003.

Johnson couldn't have done it without his drafting partner Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was eventually confirmed as having crossed the line in fourth place. But the duo's strategy to spend much of the race lurking toward the back did not please second-placed finisher Clint Bowyer. When you get it taken from you at the end by somebody who lagged back all day, it's hard to take.

2010 Winner

Mr Harvick was far most of the race all day long and as other racers battled at the front in what was a record-setting day.

Then all the lead changes and leaders changes came in the Aaron’s 499 at the Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon.

"Everything just played out perfect for us, we had a plan to ride in the back until about 50 laps were left, then make a move."

"The whole day was hard because we don’t like to sit back there and protect our car. But about the last four times here, we have wrecked."

"We laid out a plan before the race and everything worked out today like we had it planned out on paper."

This were some of Mr Harvick's words after the race.
