Subway Fresh Fit Phoenix 500 NASCAR Betting Online: The cold weather is at least starting to go away, and if that's the case, it's only a matter of time until the boys of summer take to the track in NASCAR betting action. In the second race of the season, the Sprint Cup Series will travel to Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500.

2010 was the first time that this was a 600 mile race, but after one season of running 378 laps, the race got cut back to 312 laps.

Phoenix International Raceway has only hosted six Spring races in the past, and all six have been won by different drivers. In 2010, Ryan Newman took the checkered flag in the 600 mile race. Interestingly enough, thanks to a ton of cautions, that was the slowest race in the history of the race sponsored by Subway, as it was the only one that was run at an average lap pace of under 100 MPH. It was also the first time that a car with No. 39 had ever won a race in the history of NASCAR. That race also ended up going 608 miles due to a Green-White Checker finish.

Previously, Mark Martin won this race in the smallest prize ever awarded to a winning driver. From 2006-2008, it was all drivers from the state of California that went on to take the checkered flag, though none of those drivers were the same men. Kevin Harvick was the first from the Gold Coast to win, while Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson followed suit.

Chevrolets have dominated this race, winning five straight. The only other man that wasn't driving a Chevy that took the checkered flag was Kurt Busch, who was driving his Ford. That inaugural race here in Phoenix was the longest 500 mile race in terms of actual time, lasting just over three hours.

2012 Subway Fresh Fit 500 Winner

Denny Hamlin is back. At least it appears that way after he won Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Hamlin, in his second race with new crew chief Darian Grubb, conserved enough fuel late in the race and then held off a fierce challenge from Kevin Harvick during the closing laps to capture his 18th career Sprint Cup Series win but his first since last June at Michigan (23 races ago).

Harvick lost fuel pressure with less than two laps to go in the 312-lap race but managed to finish in the runner-up spot - 7.3 seconds behind Hamlin. He led the most laps with 88.

Jeff Gordon's dry spell came to an end on Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

Not only did Gordon end a career-long 66-race winless streak in the Sprint Cup Series, but he spoiled Kyle Busch's attempt at another NASCAR trifecta as well.

Gordon passed Busch with eight laps remaining, and then held him off by 1.1 seconds for his first win since April 2009 at Texas. The four-time Sprint Cup champion collected his 83rd career victory, which placed him in a tie with Cale Yarborough for fifth on the series' all-time race winners list.
