NASCAR Betting Odds: Known as Allstate 400, The Brickyard 400 is an annual 400–mile (644 km) NASCAR Sprint Cup points race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. This event has been held at the Indianapolis Motor Speed Way since 1916. Since the inaugural race, the Brickyard 400 has become NASCAR's most–attended event, drawing an estimated crowd of more than 250,000 fans annually.
It also has become NASCAR's second highest-paying race in dollars (behind the Daytona 500).
The term "Brickyard" refers to the nickname historically used for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1910. Originally completely paved in brick in 1909, the course still maintains a three foot strip of exposed brick at the start/finish line.
Due to a naming rights arrangement with Allstate Insurance Company, the race has been officially known as the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard since 2005.
2009 History
The 2009 Allstate 400 saw former Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya playing a role.
Having dominated most of the race and leading for 116 laps, Montoya was penalized for speeding in the pits with 35 laps to go, and the infraction left Jimmie Johnson holding off the initial pole-sitter Mark Martin for the victory.
The victory placed Johnson with Jeff Gordon as the only other three-time winner, while also making him the first ever to win consecutive Brickyard 400 races; Gordon (1994, 1998, 2001) and Johnson (2006, 2008-09).

2011 Brickyard 400 presented by BigMachineRecords.com Winner
Paul Menard earned his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup victory Sunday, July 31 in the Brickyard 400 presented by Big Machine Records.com, surprising the field with a strategic fuel gamble and delivering long-sought glory to his family at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Menard held off the late charge of four-time Brickyard winner Jeff Gordon to win by .725 of a second in the No. 27 Nibco/Menards Chevrolet. Menard averaged 140.762 mph. It was the ninth consecutive Brickyard 400 victory for Chevrolet, dating back to 2003.
Menard’s father, John Menard, entered cars in the Indianapolis 500 in 1982 and 1984 and from 1990-2003, never winning “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
Jamie McMurray wins the 2010 Brickyard 400
Jamie McMurray gave team owner Chip Ganassi one of the biggest wins of his life – and a special place in global motorsports history – with a victory July 25 in the 2010 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
McMurray drove the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevrolet to a victory by 1.391 seconds over Kevin Harvick’s No. 29 Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet. McMurray earned $438,877 for the victory.
The victory gave Ganassi an unprecedented “triple crown” of major motorsports victories in one year, as McMurray also won the 2010 Daytona 500 and Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race for Ganassi’s IZOD IndyCar Series team.
McMurray also became only the third driver to win the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 in the same year. Dale Jarrett first accomplished the feat in 1996, and Jimmie Johnson followed in 2006.
