Daytona 500 Betting Odds NASCAR Betting Online: It's not often that you see the Super Bowl of your sport being played at the beginning of the season, but that's exactly what happens for the good ol' boys on the NASCAR circuit. Right off the bat, 43 of the best drivers in the world duke it out on the hallowed Daytona International Speedway, running 500 miles in the spectacle known as the Daytona 500. This NASCAR betting affair is the biggest of the season by far, and is one that you aren't going to want to miss.

Some of the best drivers in the history of this sport felt like they had incomplete careers because they never won the Daytona 500. Other less notable drivers are now in infamy because of their heroics here in Daytona.

These last few seasons, we haven't seen fantastic drivers in the history of NASCAR win, as Jamie McMurray, Matt Kenseth, and Ryan Newman are the last three winners of the 500. Kenseth's win in 2009 was the first time that the race didn't last at least 500 miles since 2003 due to torrential rains, which had the race called off after just 152 laps and 380 miles. The shortest Daytona 500 was won by Michael Waltrip in 2003, a race that was called after just 109 laps, just beyond the halfway point.

When you talk about the greatest drivers that have beaten the Daytona 500 betting lines the most often, you have to talk about the great Richard Petty. Petty has seven titles here at the 500, starting in 1964 and ending in 1981. The Great American Race has been captured four times by Cale Yarborough and three by Bobby Allison and Dale Jarrett. The only active full time driver with more than one win here in Daytona is Jeff Gordon, who has three titles. Waltrip will be back in the No. 15 NAPA Chevy this year looking for his third title, but he is not a regular in the Sprint Cup Series any longer.

If McMurray could take the checkered flag at Daytona International Speedway once again, he would become just the fourth person to do so and the first since Sterling Marlin did it in 1994 and 1995.

Daytona 500 Results: Trevor Bayne Wins In His Second Career Start

For a moment, it looked like the Daytona 500 was destined to be remembered for the crashes and cautions. When Dale Earnhardt Jr. smacked the wall on the restart, during the first attempt at a green-white-checkered finish, the star-power in the field faded away, fallen by the wayside after numerous crashes at Daytona International Speedway zapped many of the familiar names. But Trevor Bayne came out of nowhere down to the wire, driving like a pro in just his second career race to give us an incredible storyline.

Bayne was a rookie in every sense of the world, never before racing in a Daytona 500 and being about as green as they come. At 20-years-old, Bayne became the youngest driver to win a 500, leading the way into the tri-oval and holding off a hard-charging pack that included Carl Edwards and Bobby Labonte. It was almost too unbelievable to see a fresh-faced 20-year-old out-maneuver some of NASCAR's finest over 500 miles.
