Arena: Bristol Motor Speedway
Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Date: March 17, 2012
NASCAR Betting Online: The NASCAR Nationwide Series makes a stop in Bristol, TN on Saturday, March 17 in the fourth Nationwide event of this young season. The Bristol Motor Speedway will be the site of one of the most anticipated events of the season.
A fan favorite, the Bristol Motor Speedway features a short, concrete oval with steep banking that makes for slow speeds but intense action.
The Scotts Turf Builder 300 has been a NASCAR staple since 1982, when it was known as the Southeastern 150. The inaugural race was claimed by Phil Parsons, who collected a whopping $3,250 for his efforts.
Last year, 23 year old Justin Allgaier took home his first victory of his young career at the Scotts Turf Builder 300, breaking the streak of well-known winners.
Since the event increased to 300 laps in 2006, each of the four winners before Allgaier have appeared in the Sprint Cup Chase.
First was Kyle Busch, already a winner this year in the Nationwide Series. Next came Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, and Kevin Harvick, respectively, with Harvick’s win the second at this event.
With average speeds hovering around the high seventies, many fans become bored with the lack of velocity. However, the high banking and cramped track makes for a dangerous game of cat and mouse between the drivers, often leading to big time crashes.
Check out the Scotts Turf Builder 300 on Saturday, March 19 for what should be an exciting event at one of NASCAR’s most distinct tracks. While the speeds may not blow your hair back, the amount paint swapping back and forth ought to get your pulse racing. Tune into this one and watch as the world’s top drivers get up close and personal in the tight confines of Bristol Motor Speedway.
2012 St. Patrick's Day 300 - Strategy Call Results in Ford EcoBoost 300 Win for Elliot Sadler
It wasn’t quite luck and Elliott Sadler certainly isn’t Irish, but the veteran driver was able to take advantage of a late race caution and strategic call from crew chief Lucas Lambert to earn a St. Patrick’s Day win in the Ford EcoBoost 300 Saturday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Track position has been critical throughout the event - so much so that only two on-track lead changes were made during the entire race. So when Kyle Busch brushed the turn four wall to bring out a late caution, there was but one call to make for Lambert.
Lambert ordered driver Sadler to keep the No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet on the track instead of pitting, a move that Sadler initially chagrined as one-by-one he watched virtually all the other contenders pit for new tires.
2011 Scott's EZ Seed 300 race Results
Kyle Busch hit another milestone in Saturday’s Scotts EZ Seed 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Yes, he won the race. That’s almost a given in the NASCAR Nationwide Series these days. The victory was Busch’s second of the year and the 45th of his career, leaving him four behind Mark Martin (idle Saturday) for the career lead.
Perhaps even more impressive was what Busch accomplished on Lap 265 of 300. In his 206th start, Busch, the 2009 series champion, led his 10,000th lap in the series. No one else is close. Busch, who swept the Bristol weekend in August, is the first back-to-back winner at the track since 1993 series champ Steve Grissom in 1995.
