Iowa 250 Betting OddsNASCAR Betting Online:The NASCAR Nationwide Series reaches America's heartland on Saturday, June 8, as the top drivers in Nationwide come to Newton, Iowa for the DuPont Pioneer 250, an important stop on the series skid. The Iowa Speedway is the setting for this 250-mile sprint, one of the few tracks on the Nationwide schedule that does not also accommodate a Sprint Series event. While some may see that as a negative in that the track is not to the quality expected of a Sprint Cup race, it can come in handy in that this event is not overshadowed by what is to come the following Sunday.

Nationwide's top drivers will be on hand for what is historically a rather juvenile race. 2013 marks just the third year of this event, and the first time it has taken place in June rather than the customary late May date. At some point, this race may be one of the traditions of Nationwide, but right now it is merely a startup looking to gain some traction with fans.

Over the first two years of the event, the glory has belonged to a single man, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The Nationwide stud has swept the history of the event so far, improving on his 2011 win by over a minute in 2012. Still, this brings up a revelation. Every winner of the DuPont Pioneer 250 has gone on to win the Nationwide Series Cup. I know that only applies to one man and two years, but it must mean something! Head to BookMaker's live lines for this NASCAR wagering online, as you predict not only the DuPont Pioneer 250 champ, but the Nationwide champ as well.

How to bet on Nascar Dupont Pioneer 250

The odds of a driver to win the Dupont Pioneer 250 will generally look something like:

  • Jeff Gordon + 200
  • Mark Martin + 250
  • Jeff Burton + 300
  • Bill Elliott + 700
  • Robby Gordon + 700
  • Field + 500

These betting odds will be lower when betting on a driver to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.

A player would have to bet $10 to win $20 that Jeff Gordon will win the Dupont Pioneer 250, while the bettor wagering on Bill Elliott stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.

Another commonly placed bet in NASCAR is head-to-head finish between two drivers. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the driver finishes in, as long as the driver finishes higher than the other driver.

A head-to-head betting line for the Dupont Pioneer 250 will look something like:

  • Mark Martin - 130 Jeff Burton + 110

In this bet, players wagering on Martin to finish higher than Burton will be asked to risk $13 to win $10, while bettors believing that Burton will finish higher than Martin will bet $10 to win $11.

Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to NASCAR wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of NASCAR betting without too much hassle.

2012 Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 Winner - Stenhouse owns Iowa's oval again

Ricky Stenhouse didn't need a fortuitous push from a teammate to win at Iowa Speedway this time. His No. 6 car kept the drama and his foes out of reach.

He led 209 of 250 laps and won Sunday's Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 NASCAR Nationwide race for his third straight win on Iowa's 0.875-mile short oval.

Stenhouse won both Iowa races in 2011, including in August when he blew an engine and was pushed across the finish line by Carl Edwards.

Elloitt Sadler was second but his No. 2 Chevrolet was found to be too low in postrace inspection. Michael McDowell tied his career best by finishing third.

Darrell Wallace Jr., a member of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program making his series debut, finished ninth for Joe Gibbs Racing.

2011 Winner

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had to overcome two Sprint Cup regulars and former Nationwide champions - Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski - to claim his first ever win in the Nationwide series at Iowa Speedway.

Edwards and Keselowski had needed to hot-foot it from the All-Star event at Charlotte Motor Speedway to make it for the green flag at 2.17pm, but at least they had good starting positions (fourth and tenth respectively) after qualifying was washed out and the grid order set by owner points. That put Stenhouse Jr. in eighth place for the start.

Cautions during the 250 laps included Ryan Truex hitting the wall after a tyre problem on lap 110, a spin for Angela Cope at the restart on lap 117 and a copycat spin for her twin sister Amber a few laps later. The final caution was caused by Brian Scott who lost control of his car right in front of Stenhouse Jr.
