2011 NAPA Auto Parts 200 Winner - Ambrose finally victorious in Montreal

Marcos Ambrose exorcised the demons of past failure and disappointment of racing in Montreal.

Saturday, the 34-yearold Australian won the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on his fifth try at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, but not before dashing from Michigan to get to the race on time and then surviving a collision with local favourite and polesitter Jacques Villeneuve.

Ambrose took the checkered flag more than three hours after arriving at the track with fellow drivers Trevor Bayne and Carl Edwards and one of Edwards's pit crew, from Brooklyn, Mich.

They came by speedboat from the opposite end of the Olympic Basin after a helicopter ride from the airport in St. Hubert on the South shore where Edwards landed his jet only minutes before, and more than two hours after having left Michigan International Speedway, the site of NASCAR Sprint Cup Sunday.
