NHL Betting Online: In the eleven years of its existence, the Minnesota Wild has been one of the most successful expansion franchises in recent memory. Founded in 2000, the Wild replaced the void left by the departure of the Minnesota North Stars to Dallas back in 1993.

After two seasons of sub-par play, an expected start for an expansion team, the Wild burst onto the NHL radar in the franchise’s third season, placing third in the division, clinching a playoff spot, and reaching all the way to the Western Conference Finals. While the playoff run ended in disappointment in the form of a four game sweep to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, it was the first time an expansion team from 1997 got past the first round of the playoffs. To this day, they remain the only team to accomplish that feat.

Since that time, the Wild have reached the playoffs twice, losing in the first round in both instances. Over their eleven year existence, the Wild hold a .531 winning percentage, an accomplishment considering their relative youth in the league, with the major accomplishment coming in 2008 when they took home the Northwest Division title.

Recently, however, that percentage has remained stagnant, as the Wild have struggled to take a step forward into the realm of consistent contenders. They have missed the playoffs in each of the last three years, as their inability to score on the offensive end hinders their development.

Last season, the Wild finished dead last in shots on goal, and fifth to the bottom in goals scored. If the Wild want to return to the top of the division, they will need goal scorers to emerge on the front line. Hopefully new coach Mike Yeo can inject some aggressiveness in his side, or it could be another mediocre year for Minnesota.
