The move sparked a run of success unseen in franchise history. The Dallas Stars became dominant in the late nineties, winning two straight President’s Cups, five straight division titles and a Stanley Cup in 1999.
As of late, however, the Stars have struggled, failing to make the playoffs the last three years straight, and finishing last in the Pacific Division the past two seasons. Last year, however, was not the typical year of a last place team in a division, as they finished just two points out of the eighth playoff spot. The upcoming season could be the year they finally break out of their current playoff slump, but it will take focus to avoid repeating the second half slump that ultimately left them at home last year come playoff time.
