Omega Dubai Desert Classic BettingEuropean Tour Golf Betting Odds: PGA Tour betting fans aren't going to want to miss the Dubai Desert Classic this year, as some of the best golfers in the world tee it off at the Emirates Golf Club on the Majils course. This $2.5M event always brings out some great golfers thanks to some simply awesome appearance fees, and the tournaments almost always have some tremendous winners.

The defending champs is Miguel Angel Jimenez, who bested the No. 1 golfer in the world, Lee Westwood on the third playoff hole last year to win at -11. It was the worst score to win an event here in Dubai in its history, matching the -11 put up by winner Mark James in 1989, in  the first event here ever.

Spaniards have definitely done well here in Dubai, as there are three different men from Spain that have captured this illustrious title, including Angel Jimenez, Jose Maria Olazabal, and Seve Ballesteros.

South Africa and the United States are both well represented as well on the list of historical winners on the Dubai Desert Classic, but there are only five men that have combined for these eight titles. Ernie Els, one of the most famous South Africans in the nation, has wins here in 1994, 2002, and 2005, while his country mate Wayne Westner won here in 1993. Tiger Woods won in 2008 and 2006, beating Els out in both instances, while Mark O'Meara was the winner at the Emirates in 2004. Fred Couples was the first American to taste glory here in the UAE in 1995.

Low scores are always the theme in this PGA Tour betting stop. Thomas Bjorn has the lowest score ever with a -22 in 2001, and he needed every single one of those birdies to best both Paddy Harrington and Tiger Woods. Since that point, there have been five tournaments that have finished with the winner posting a -19. Couples and Els both shot -20 268s in 1994 and 1995 respectively.

This year, once again, almost all of the best golfers in the world are expected to make their appearance in Dubai as a part of the desert tour through the UAE. There has never been a back to back winner of this event, but Angel Jimenez could become the first to do so. Be sure to keep up with all of the action on this golf betting tourney here at Bookmaker.

2012 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Winner - Stephen Gallacher falls just short as Rafael Cabrera Bello wins in UAE

STEPHEN Gallacher blew the chance to end an eight-year drought as he ended one stroke shy of Rafael Cabrera Bello in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

The unlucky Scot missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the final green in a round of 69 to end tied on 17-under par with Lee Westwood (70).

That saw Bello become the third straight Spaniard to win the UAE event with a last day 68 for an 18-under par tally.

And the 27-year old Grand Canarian singled out the late, great Seve Ballesteros, and winner of the event in 1992, for special praise.

It was agony for Gallacher who began the week winning a Mercedes Benz with an ace and returns home with his best result in six years.

Gallacher was looking to join double Qatar Masters winner, Paul Lawrie as the first Scottish-born players to win back-to-back on the European Tour since Andrew Coltart and Colin Montgomerie in 2001.

After a bogey at the first, Gallacher settled down in the company of Westwood for a second day to birdie his second and fifth holes.

He then dropped another shot at the seventh and after a birdie at the 10th, Gallacher stormed into contention with a 50-foot downhill putt for eagle at the 12th.

But it would prove the high water mark of his challenge with Gallacher walking off his last six holes with pars.

Quiros wins the 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic

Spain's Alvaro Quiros recorded a hole in one as he beat the cream of world golf to become Omega Dubai Desert Classic champion.

Just after running up a triple bogey when three clear, Quiros aced the short 11th and ended up beating Dane Anders Hansen and South African James Kingston by a stroke.

The big names all faded. Tiger Woods finished with a double-bogey seven for a 75 and joint 20th place with Sergio Garcia - he triple-bogeyed the ninth - while long-time leader Rory McIlroy was tenth and World Number One Lee Westwood 15th after dropping three shots in the last two holes.

Big-hitting Quiros, who had treatment on his arm out on the course, grabbed his fifth European Tour title with a closing 68 and 11 under par total.
