Nordea Scandinavian Masters Betting OddsEuropean Tour Golf Betting Odds: The Nordea Scandinavian Masters, as it is currently known for sponsorship reasons, is an annual golf tournament on the European Tour which is played in Sweden at the end of July or the beginning of August each year.

The tournament has its origins in the late 1960s with the Volvo Open, which became the Scandinavian Enterprise Open in 1973, when it also became the first Swedish stop on the European Tour schedule. In 1991, the SEO merged with the PLM Open, with the resultant tournament being called the Scandinavian Masters.

The Scandinavian Masters is currently the only European Tour event to be held in Scandinavia, and in 2010 had a prize fund of 1.6 million Euros, which is at the lower end of the scale for European Tour events held in the tour's home continent.

Swede Richard S Johnson sank a 30 foot birdie putt on the final green to become only the second home winner of the Nordea Scandinavian Masters in the last 12 years. With a play-off looming against Argentina's Rafa Echenique, the 33 year old looked to have played safe with his approach to the 407 yard last at Bro Hof Slott near Stockholm. But months of putting problems in America were forgotten as he took his second European Tour title eight years after his first.

The Scandinavian Masters is being played for the 21st time this year, returning to Bro Hof Slott Golf Club in Stockholm for the second consecutive season. Colin Montgomerie won the inaugural title in 1991 and is the tournament's most successful player, also winning in 1991 and 2001.

When Jespar Parnevik won in 1998 he became only the second player in European Tour history to win an event without dropping a shot. He followed David J Russell who first achieved the feat at the 1992 Open de Lyon Trophée V33.

2011 Nordea Scandinavian Masters Winner - Noren Secures Home Success

Alex Noren may not have reproduced his majestic third round display at the Nordea Masters, but he still registered a comprehensive seven shot victory in his native Stockholm.

The 29 year old, who was quite brilliant in setting a course record 63 on Saturday, carded a closing 77 for a 15 under par aggregate of 273 at Bro Hof Slott.

Having birdied the first, Noren then had five bogeys and a double bogey at the 14th, but successfully negotiated the fearsome par-3 17th, which has an island green.

England’s Richard Finch was the only man to break par in strong winds, his three under 69 good enough for second place.

The highlight came with a 70 foot putt at the 16th – one of six birdies – although he did find the water en route to a triple bogey six at the penultimate hole.
