Mayakoba Golf Classic Betting OddsPGA Tour Golf Betting Odds: The Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun is a PGA Tour tournament which was played for the first time in 2007. It is the first PGA Tour event to be played in Mexico this decade. The tournament is played the same week as the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. It is a counting event for the FedEx Cup, but like other alternate events it will only count for half points.

Mexico's most successful and decorated professional golfer, Lorena Ochoa, will participate in the Mayakoba Golf Classic's Wednesday Pro-Am, as Mexico's Only PGA TOUR Event celebrates its fifth anniversary February 20-26, 2012.

In its first four years, the Mayakoba Golf Classic has donated nearly $1 million USD in an effort to give back to the community through various philanthropic organizations and charitable groups as well as promote the game of golf within the Cancun and Riviera Maya regions. Organizations receiving charitable contributions from the Mayakoba Golf Classic include Golf PARa Todos, the American Junior Golf Association, Centro Equinoterapia, Centro Integracion Juvenil, CINDAQ, City of Joy Foundation (Ciudad de la Alegria), Red Cross of Playa del Carmen, DIF, Flora Fauna y Cultura de Mexico, the Lorena Ochoa Foundation, Malix-Pek Pet Shelter, Rotary Clubs of Playa del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum, Un Hogar Con Amor and many more.

El Camaleon Golf Club

Camaleon Mayakoba is a work of art designed by Greg Norman and located in the supreme luxury resort "The Fairmont Mayakoba". The 18-hole course is just 45 minutes south of Cancun at the heart of the mystic Riviera Maya.

The inspiration for its name was born out of its diverse layout and ever-changing landscape, which bends through the tropical jungle, dense mangrove, stunning oceanfront stretches of sand and long channels with limestone borders. With Mayakoba's unique system of lagoons, golfers will be able to step out of their rooms and into a boat, which will take them directly to the first tee.

Winding under a forest canopy and through the tropical landscape, El Camaleon borders the resort. Here, golf enthusiasts can experience fairways covered with the dark-green tones of the Paspalum grass. The fairways are lined with sand dunes and mangroves; the course features unique hazards such as cenotes (subterranean caves) and crystal clear lagoons. This place is much more than just a golf experience, with its unequalled hazards and captivating greens, El Camaleon has been carefully planned to capture the essence of a pristine and natural landscape.

2012 Mayakoba Golf Classic Winner - John Huh Claims First PGA Tour Win at Mayakoba Golf Classic

Daniel Summerhays began play on Sunday, February 26, 2012, with a two shot lead going into the final round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Playing at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon Golf Club, in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Summerhays had a two shot lead over Chris Stroud, and was at least four shots ahead of everyone else in the field. A common theme on the PGA Tour in 2012 has been that third round leaders do not win the tournaments. This held true again this week, as John Huh and Robert Allenby came from behind to move to the top of the leaderboard.

John Huh played bogey-free golf in Sunday's final round to shoot an 8 under par score of 63. Robert Allenby looked just as good, until he suffered a double bogey on the 18th hole, finishing with a 6 under par 65. Daniel Summerhays' final round 73, 2 over par, left him in a tie for 5th place at tournament's end. As for John Huh and Robert Allenby, at 13 under par for the tournament after 72 holes, they moved on to a sudden death playoff to determine the tournament champion.

Both Huh and Allenby made par at the first playoff hole, the 452 yard par-4 18th; and again at the 200 yard par-3 10th hole. With the playoff alternating between #18 and #10, the two professionals made two pars each again, and headed back to the tee at #18 for a fifth hole of sudden death. The Australian-born Allenby, 40 years old and a professional since 1991, has four prior PGA Tour wins in 380 events played. He has won more than $25 Million on the Tour and has a 3 win, 1 loss record in prior playoffs. Huh is a 21-year-old rookie, playing in only his fifth PGA Tour event. His best finish was a tie for sixth at the Farmers Insurance Open in January.

2011 Mayakoba Classic Winner - Johnson Wagner wins at Mayakoba

Johnson Wagner won the Mayakoba Golf Classic on Sunday for his second PGA Tour title, beating Spencer Levin with a par on the first hole of a playoff.

Wagner, also the 2008 Houston Open winner, closed with a 4-under 67 to match Levin at 17-under 267 on the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon course.

Levin shot a 65. David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., closed with a 70 to tie for 35th.

Champions Tour player John Cook shot a 66 to finish third at 14 under.

2010 Mayakoba Classic Winner - Beckman Wins Mayakoba Golf Classic

Cameron Beckman won the Mayakoba Golf Classic for his third PGA Tour title, closing with a 4-under 67 on Sunday for a two-stroke victory over third-round leader Joe Durant and Brian Stuard.

The 40-year-old Beckman, three strokes behind Durant at the start of play Sunday, finished at 15-under 269 on the Mayakoba Resort's El Camaleón course. Beckman also won the 2001 Southern Farm Bureau Classic and 2008 Frys.com Open.

Durant shot a 72, and Stuard had a 66. Skip Kendall (64), Richard S. Johnson (65), Briny Baird (68), Chad Collins (70) and J.P. Hayes (71) followed at 12 under.

Beckman bogeyed the sixth, got the stroke back with a birdie on the par-5 eighth and added birdies on 13 and 17 before closing with a par.
