Andalucia Open Golf Betting OddsEuropean Tour Golf Betting Odds: The Iberdrola Open is a European Tour golf tournament which was played for the first time in 2010 at Pula Golf Club on the island of Majorca in Spain. This tournament was previously known as the Mallorca Classic but has a new sponsor this year in the shape of Iberdrola - Spain's leading energy company and the world's largest producer of wind power.

The 2011 European Tour will head to the Balearic Islands May 12-15 for the Iberdrola Open at the Pula Golf Club. Pula Golf Club is one of the Mallorca's best-known courses. Opened in 1995, the layout was re-designed by Jose Maria Olazabal. It has been the venue for this event since it was first played in 2003. The course is not long, but careful placement from the tee is essential for a successful negotiation. Trees line many of the fairways and well-placed water hazards wait to catch errant drives on the 5th, 6th, 9th, 14th and 16th.

This is one of six European Tour events to be held on Spanish soil in 2011 and will be a good opportunity for one of the upcoming home players to shine. Amongst other Spaniards in the field are Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Alejandro Canizares and Jose Manuel Lara. They will hope to follow in the footsteps of, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Sergio Garcia and Jose Maria Olazabal - all past winners of this tournament.

Last year Sweden’s Peter Hanson shrugged off a one-shot penalty to beat Alejandro Canizares of Spain in a playoff and win the tournament. A television replay showed that Hanson struck his chip shot on No. 12 a second time. He fell two strokes behind with four to play before making birdies on the 15th and 17th at the 6,915-yard Pula Golf Club to force the playoff. Hanson won his third European Tour title when Canizares bogeyed the first extra hole. Hanson and Canizares both shot 66 to finish 6 under par, four shots clear of South Africa’s James Kingston.

The tournament may well be decided on the treacherous 16th hole; a 442 yard dog-leg left demanding a very precise drive to a narrow sloping fairway bounded by water on the left and bunkers on the right. The water continues up the left side and comes into play for the approach shot. You could easily see a 2-shot swing on this hole, making for an exciting finish and possibly another play-off for this year's Iberdrola Open.

2011 Winner - Clarke edges out Wood to cliam title

Darren Clarke came from four behind to capture his 13th European Tour title at the Iberdrola Open in Mallorca.

The Northern Irishman used all his experience to grind out a final round 69 and deny Chris Wood his maiden victory.

The Ryder Cup Vice Captain had reduced Wood’s overnight advantage to one within three holes, but a double bogey at the 11th after finding water looked to have cost him a first win since the 2008 KLM Open.

But Wood encountered numerous problems on the back nine – three-putting the 12th and 13th and driving out of bounds at the 15th as he came back in 40, despite coming within millimeters of a hole in one at the last.

And Clarke finished in style, holing a putt from the fringe at the 14th, nailing his approach to six feet at the 15th, saving par on the 16th with a brilliant approach from a fairway bunker and then holing another putt from off the green to scramble par at the next.
