Wyndham Championship Betting OddsGolf Betting Online: The links will be on fire at the Wyndham Championship this August, as some of the best golfers in the world take aim at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. PGA betting enthusiasts certainly aren't going to want to miss this fantastic event, which some of the best names in the sport will take part in on an annual basis. The Wyndham Championship has been played both as a fall event and a spring event, but it is now dab smack in the middle of the summer and is played one week before the playoffs for the FedEx Cup.

Dating back to its inception in 1938, the Greensboro based event has been rich in history. The great Sam Snead won this event a record eight times, while other great names like Byron Nelson (1941, 1945) and Ben Hogan (1940) are also old time winners. Snead won this event in 1938 for the first time and in 1965, a whopping 27 years later, the final time.

Starting in 1973 with Chi Chi Rodriguez's victory, finding multiple time winners of this event have been hard to come by. Rocco Mediate won in both 1993 and 2002, while Davis Love III became the most recent two-time winner of the tournament with his wins in 1992 and 2006.

From its first tournament until 1987, this tournament was known as the Greater Greensboro Open. Though it shifted through several courses in Greensboro, it never actually left the city itself. In 1988, K-Mart joined the fold, and the name of the event changed to the K-Mart Greater Greensboro Open. From '96 to 2002, it went by the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, and was also known as the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro from '03 to '06 before taking on its current name in 2009.

2011 Wyndham Championship Winner - Simpson Captures Wyndham Championship for First PGA Win

Webb Simpson, playing the closest place to home, worked up a sweat in coolly going about the Sedgefield Country Club course Sunday to win his first PGA Tour tournament, the 2011 Wyndham Championship and a check for $936,000.

The back of the young pro’s shirt was soaked already on the first tee, where the Sam Snead Cup that he would later win was mounted at the end of the tee box. . And perhaps his nerves were tingling a tad when he hit his ball on the other side of the cart path, not far from the lawn of a mansion bordering the fairway.

But he made par from there. He played steady par golf from there on him with birdies on the 9th, 15th and 16th with no bogeys for a 67 and an 18 under par total, good for a three-shot victory.

PGA Tour 2010 Wyndham Championship Results - Arjun Atwal Wins

PGA Tour 2011 Wyndham Championship Results: Arjun Atwal made his most important shot of the day winning by a single stroke.  Atwal came in as a Monday qualifier and ended up being the first Indian born player to win in the Tour.  He would admit that his relaxed approached helped him in securing the victory.

There was a time in the last round where 7 players shared the lead in the final round at under 18.  Arjun would then reclaim the lead he had heading in the round with a birdie at hole No.14.  He would follow it up with some par before the dramatic ending at the 18th where he would sink the 7ft. putt for the win.
