Golf Betting Odds: The growth of the RBC Heritage has been incredible, most notably displayed by the growth of the prize money from the original $100,000 (of which Palmer collected only $20,000) to this year's $5.7 million. The event is always hotly contested, coming so soon after the Masters, which is the Tour’s first major championship of the year. Top golfers flock to it, one reason being that the invite-only nature of the Augusta, Georgia major means many pros might have had a week off and are eager to contest strongly for the substantial prize purse offered.
This stop on the PGA Tour is also a part of the FedEx Cup, where points are awarded for finishing places that can lead to lucrative late-season and post-season prize money awards. The Harbour Town course is annually ranked as being among the best courses on the Tour, and was designed by the legendary golf course designer Pete Dye, with some input from the Golden Bear himself, Golf Hall of Famer Jack Nicklaus. The course is a big draw for fans, who eagerly snap up RBC Heritage tickets.
The format for the tournament is “stroke play,” meaning that the player with the lowest aggregate total score takes top honors, with all other players falling in behind. This style of play guarantees high fan interest and strong sales of RBC Heritage tickets, which are the norm when all of the game’s top players make a commitment to contest for the prize purse.
The Harbour Town course is also a par 71, nearly-7000 yard challenge, with many an exciting hole that makes each player reach within himself for the best golf possible. The current low aggregate score AND “to par” score are held by the same player, 2009 champion Brian Gay, who carded a 20 under par (for “to par” honors) and a total 264 score. The American pro had a great tournament, and fans snapped up a great man RBC Heritage tickets to see him take home 1,026,000 dollars in prize money.

2012 RBC Heritage Winner - Petterson Takes Control In RBC Heritage Win
Save the fitness trailer for the rest of the PGA Tour, Carl Petterson knows he's fine the way he is.
Petterson used another fast start for a 2-under 69 and a five-shot victory over Zach Johnson on Sunday at the RBC Heritage. Pettersson has never fit the tapered, powerful build made popular by Tiger Woods and copied by scores of young players.
The one time the 34-year-old Pettersson did slim down and lost 30 pounds, he also lost his winning golf swing.
And no one walked them better this week at Harbour Town Golf Links than Pettersson. He finished at 14 under to win his fifth PGA Tour title and first since 2010. Pettersson also tied countryman Jesper Parnevik for most ever on tour by a Swedish player.
Pettersson, second in the Houston Open two weeks ago, earned US$1,026,000.
2011 Results - An unexpected plaid jacket goes to Snedeker
The plaid jacket looked pretty good on Brandt Snedeker.
He earned the plaid jacket, given annually to the winner of The Heritage, by shooting a 64 at Harbour Town on the final day and then outlasting Luke Donald in a three-hole playoff, thwarting Donald's attempt to become the No. 1-ranked player in the world.
The addition to his wardrobe hardly seemed likely when he woke up Sunday morning. Snedeker didn't take a deep breath of fresh ocean air and think, "I'm going to go out and win myself a golf tournament." That would not have been realistic, not for someone starting the final round tied for 17th place and six strokes back.
But Sunday wasn't an ordinary day. Snedeker shot the round of the week and posted his number. It was a good number, too. His 64 was only the second 7-under score posted this week at Harbour Town. Still, with the leaders playing in another time zone, it seemed doubtful that the score would hold up.
The playoff began at No. 18. Donald knocked in a birdie from just inside 12 feet, only to have Snedeker respond by making his 10-footer.
Donald even exchanged a fist pop with Snedeker as they walked to the second playoff hole, No. 17. After exchanging pars, they played No. 18 again. This time Donald's approach splashed in the bunker and left him with a messy exit. Snedeker was able to two-putt for par and won the tournament when Donald's chip hit the hole and bounced away.
2010 Heritage Winner
Furyk won his 15th 2011 PGA Tour event, and second his second as well for March. That came in 1997 when he was a 27-year-old pro playing the Argentine Open.
Mr Furyk said that when We sat in the scorer’s tent 20 minutes waiting for a ruling and everyone else was speaking Spanish, and I had no idea … what was going on.
Finally, Furyk was told he won. “Okay, he asked, “Why?”
Furyk was almost as dumbstruck this time after Davis’ infraction. “Are you sure?” he asked his opponent.
Davis’ error, a violation of rule 13.4 against moving a loose impediment during a takeaway, was indiscernible but for slow motion replays.
All that made Mr Furyk the 2011 Verizon Heritage winner.
