PGA Betting Online: The Travelers Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour. The second most attended PGA Tour event, it has been held annually in Cromwell, Connecticut since 1984, and since 1991, the tournament has been held on the course at the TPC River Highlands.
This event is regularly the second-most attended event on the PGA Tour, behind only the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The Travelers Championship has been played on only two Connecticut courses since its PGA Tour debut in 1952 at Wethersfield Country Club from 1952 to 1983 and TPC River Highlands from 1984 to the present.
Background
Over the last ten years longer hitters have done well at the Travelers, with Stewart Cink, Hunter Mahan, J.J. Henry, and Phil Mickelson combining for five victories over an eight year span, and Mahan having also tied for second in both 2006 and 2008.
The tournament was founded in 1952 as the Insurance City Open; in 1967 it was renamed the Greater Hartford Open, a title that was retained through 2003.
From 1973 to 1988, the Greater Hartford Open (GHO) also bore the name of entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr., who would often play in the pro-ams.
Canon was a long-time sponsor of this tournament, and their employees would often take vacation time during tournament week to volunteer at the event.
Renamed the Travelers Championship in 2007, this tournament carries quite a bit of history; such as Arnold Palmer's win in 1956, just the second of his PGA career.
There have been nineteen playoffs in Travelers Championship history, which means the tournament has ended with a playoff more than one-third of the times it has been played.

2011 Travelers Championship Winner - First-Time Winner at Travelers
Leading by a stroke going into the final round of the 2011 Travelers Championship, Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson held on and shot a 66 to earn his first career PGA TOUR victory at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
Jacobson moved into first place when he shot a 63 Saturday. He fired a three-under on the front nine Sunday to retain the lead and held on by taking just 34 shots on the back nine.
Jacobson was tied with Ryan Moore after 17 holes at 20-under par, but Moore bogeyed the 72nd hole to finish at 19-under.Needing a par for the win, Jacobson calmly hit his drive in the fairway on 18 and stuck his approach to 13 feet. He two putted for the win. Moore and John Rollins finished at 19-under and tied for second place.
Jacobson was steady the entire tournament, as evidenced by just one bogey over four rounds. His total score of 260 is the third best in tournament history, just two strokes off Kenny Perry's 72-hole tournament record of 258 in 2009.
2010 Champion
Bubba Watson made a 3-foot par putt on the second playoff hole, the 16th, to defeat Scott Verplank and Corey Pavin and win the Travelers Championship on Sunday at TPC River Highlands for his first PGA Tour title.
After the 3 footer on Par-3 16th to win, Bubba Watson hugged his wife and broke down in tears. He said that he could not feel his arms during the putt due to excitement and pressure.
"I just want to thank my mom and dad," Watson said, his voice breaking. "Without them, I'm nothing. My dad is battling cancer right now. Dad, I'm praying for you. I love you."
