Andalucia Open Golf Betting OddsEuropean Tour Golf Betting Odds: The Open de Andalucia is part of the European Tour and was established in 2007. It has rotated between golf courses in the Andalucia region of Malaga, Spain, with the most recent events being held at Aloha GC. It is held in late March each year and was added to the calendar to fill the gap created by the rescheduling of The Players Championship and the British Masters.

Lee Westwood won the inaugural tournament in 2007 and is likely to be well backed in the betting after a stunning 2010 season. Last year South African Louis Oosthuizen claimed his maiden European Tour title with a record low 72- hole score of 263, having finished runner-up in the previous tournament at the Trophée Hassan II. He was the first player to finish second and win the next tournament since Peter Hedblom, who tied second in the 2009 KLM Open and won the very next week at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. The victory kick started the South Africans career and four months later he won the British Open.

This year the Open de Andalucia de Golf takes place March 15-18 which falls two weeks before the Masters, so it will be interesting to see what kind of field is assembled. Some of the top ranked players will probably take the week off to rest and prepare for the first Major of the year, leaving the door wide open for everyone else that enters.

Facts and Figures

The Open de Andalucia carries a prize fund of 1 million (Euros).

Previous winners include England’s Lee Westwood (in 2007), France’s Thomas Levet (2008) and Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen (2009).

This will be the event’s tenth year and the fifth time it has formed part of The European Tour International Schedule.

Ryder Cup stalwart Miguel Angel Jiménez is the host of the tourney and his company, Fade and Draw Target, organize and promotes the tournament.

2012 Andalucia Open Winner - Quesne wins maiden title at Andalucia Open

France's Julien Quesne, the world number 322, won the Andalucia Open on Sunday to claim his maiden European Tour title at the age of 31.

Quesne, who graduated from last season's Challenge Tour, carded a final round eight under par 64 for a four-round 17 under, 271 total, winning the title by two shots from Italian teenager Matteo Manassero, who finished with a 68.

Spain's Eduardo De La Riva, the second- and third-round leader, finished in third place after a final round 70, a round scarred by a bogey at the last.

Quesne birdied four of the last five holes, his approach to the 18th leaving him a five-foot putt which he holed as he closed with a course record-equalling 64.

2011 Andalucia Open Winner - Lawrie shows his steel appeal to reign in Spain

Aberdonian Paul Lawrie’s long wait for a European Tour win ended last night when he dug deep to triumph in the Andalucia Open title in Spain.

The 42 year-old former Open champion, who became the oldest winner on the European Tour in 2011, watched his one-shot overnight lead disappear to trail Englishman Mark Foster after the opening two holes but he held his nerve to finish with four birdies in five holes.

He could even afford to drop a shot at the last for a level-par 70 and still win on 12-under 268, one shot clear off Sweden’s Johan Edfors to claim the £144,472 winner’s prize.
