Turkish Grand Prix Betting OddsFormula One Betting Online: Cash in on Formula One betting when the Turkish Grand Prix revs up on May 6-8 at the Istanbul Park Circuit in Istanbul, Turkey. The Turkish Grand Prix was first held in August of 2005, and is one of the rarer anti-clockwise tracks on the circuit. The track peaks and dips at various points, mirroring the land it sits on. This is different from many flatter tracks in Formula One. The most harrowing turn is like Turn 8, which is long and fast and has a load of 5g for four seconds. It has been described as one of the tougher turns on the entire Formula One circuit. In 2006, Mehmet Ali Talat presented the winner’s trophy and he was introduced as the president of the Turkise Republic of Northern Cyprus. This was controversial because the state is only recognized by Turkey, and it was considered a possible breach of Formula One’s political neutrality. While there was some worry that the incident could jeopardize the Turkish Grand Prix’s inclusion in Formula One, the matter was settled with a $2.5 million fine.

Felipe Massa has been the most successful driver at the Turkish Grand Prix, winning the event three consecutive times from 2006-08. Kimi Raikkonen won the inaugural race in 2005, while Jenson Button took home a first place finish in 2009 and Lewis Hamilton did so last year. The Ferrari has been the most successful car at the event because of Massa’s three wins, while both Raikkonen and Hamilton took McLaren’s to victory lane.

Massa may be a popular pick because of his brilliance on this track before, but he hasn’t won the race for two years. Sebastian Vettel won the first Formula One race of the season, so he may also be a popular choice. However, I like Lewis Hamilton to repeat in this event, as he has shown he can handle the track and he also seems to be driving well this season. Choose Hamilton to Turkish Grand Prix in Formula One betting.

2011 Turkish Grand Prix Results: Flawless Vettel

Sebastian Vettel's triumphant march as reigning Formula 1 champion, interrupted last month by Lewis Hamilton's victory in Shanghai, was back on course Sunday as Vettel scored a dominant victory in the Turkish Grand Prix.

It was the third win in four races this season, and the fifth in the last six overall, for the 23-year-old German. Red Bull teammate Mark Webber, 3rd behind Hamilton and Vettel in China, was 2nd and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was 3rd.

The race provided vindication for Vettel, who a year ago tangled while dueling for the lead with Webber and crashed out of this event. The misstep — one of very few for the young German — very nearly derailed his championship bid, but Vettel came from behind and, with the two victories in the final races of 2011, overhauled Alonso and claimed the driving title.
