Singapore Grand Prix Betting OddsFormula One Betting Online: The Formula One Grand Prix circuit travels to the Far East on September 23, as the top racers in the world congregate in Marina Bay, Singapore for one of the top street races of the season. Use this exciting event to bet on Formula One Racing online, and watch as the big bucks come racing back to you. The Singapore Grand Prix has had a rocky history. Starting in 1966, the event saw just eight years of success before it was discontinued for a variety of disputed reasons including rising oil prices, fat accidents, and local logistics. However, in 2008, the world was again granted the privilege of the Singapore Grand Prix, once known as the Oriental Year Grand Prix. Because of this long drought, this is one of the only races on the circuit in which Michael Schumacher does not hold the record for number of wins. Instead, that honor goes to Graeme Lawrence of New Zealand with three. Following close behind is Fernando Alonso, who won his second Singapore Grand Prix just last year, beating out rising dominant star Sebastian Vettel, and another New Zealand native, Mark Webber. Look for Alonso to go all out in his effort to tie Lawrence and win his third Singapore Grand Prix in four years. It will be tough, however, as the Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of the more derided tracks in all of Formula One. Several top drivers have criticized the track for certain turns being too dangerous, the track being too bumpy, and entry to the pit lane being too difficult. One driver will have to overcome these obstacles, as the top racers in the sport come together to try to beat out one another, despite the track’s shortcomings.

2011 Singapore Grand Prix Winner - Vettel's win leaves him within one point of title

Sebastian Vettel remains on track to become the youngest double champion in formula one history, with his win in the Singapore Grand Prix last night putting him just one point away from securing his second driver's title.

Vettel, who started in pole position, with his Red Bull teammate Mark Webber second on the grid, hung on to the lead off the start but Webber began badly and was passed by Jenson Button's McLaren and the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso, Vettel's nearest rival for the championship at the start of the race.

By lap four the 24-year-old German had built a 4.4 second lead over Button and continued to stretch it.

On lap 11, Webber overtook Alonso, who immediately pitted to change tyres. By lap 16, all the drivers had pitted, with Webber falling back to sixth.

Vettel continued to pull clear of Button, who remained comfortably in second, with Alonso some 18 seconds back.

Webber, meanwhile, was only a second behind Alonso and he took third on lap 25 when the Spaniard went into the pits for a second time for fresh tyres.

On lap 30 Michael Schumacher, who was tight on the tail of eighth-placed Sergio Perez, touched the back of the Mexican's Sauber, became airborne and spectacularly T-boned the barrier, bringing out the safety car.

Webber was the first to take advantage with a pit stop, soon followed by Vettel and Button.
