Super Bowl XLVI Betting Odds
New England Patriots vs New York Giants
Lucas Oil Stadium - Indianapolis, IN
Sunday, February 5 - 6:29 PM ET
The New England Patriots are headed for their fifth Super Bowl appearance in the last 11 seasons. For the last decade, head coach Bill Belichick and his celebrity quarterback Tom Brady rolled over opponents with ease. De facto AFC East champions every season, they won two Lombardi trophies since upsetting the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
The New York Giants are headed to Super Bowl XLVI- with a big assist from Kyle Williams. Filling in for an injured Ted Ginn, Jr. on punt returns, Williams coughed up the football twice in crunch time, including a fumble in overtime that set up a 26-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes that lifted the Giants to a 20-17 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game at rain-soaked Candlestick Park.
NFL football Betting Online: The NFL's regular season is coming to a close, and soon six teams from each division will put it all on the line in an effort to advance to the Super Bowl. This year's version, Super Bowl XLVI, will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The game will be televised by NBC. The first Super Bowl was played in 1967 to determine a champion between the American and National Football Leagues. The two leagues merged in 1970 and the conference champions from each side met in the title game. The NFC has won 24 of the 45 Super Bowls in history.
The Super Bowl is one of the biggest events of the year. It is consistently the most watched television show and the second-most food is consumed on Super Bowl Sunday, after only Thanksgiving. The 2011 Super Bowl had an average of 111 million viewers watching. Super Bowl XVI in 1982 between the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals holds the record for percentage of households turned to one station at 49.1 percent. The astronomical ratings lead to high prices for commercials. Since companies are intent on getting the most bang for their buck, they often plan creative commercials to try to be remembered by the viewing audiences. There is plenty of feedback the next day not just on the football but on the commercials in between, too.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have won the most Super Bowls with six and have appeared in the big game eight times, which is tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the most appearances. The Cowboys have five Super Bowl titles, including three in four years in the mid-1990s. The San Francisco 49ers have also won five Super Bowls and have never lost one. The Green Bay Packers have won four Super Bowls, the most recent of which coming in 2011 over the Steelers. Green Bay has the best record in the NFL behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and will likely have the best odds of winning the Super Bowl when the playoffs begin in NFL football spreads.
