AFC vs. NFC : 2012 Pro Bowl Betting Odds

Pro Bowl Betting OddsIn celebration of the 2012 Pro Bowl, the NFL will host a series of community events throughout Oahu in the days leading up to the game. From tree plantings to the third annual "NFL PLAY 60 Community Blitz," the events will enable the NFL and its players to give back to the Oahu community and thank them for sharing the spirit of Aloha.

2012 NFL Pro Bowl Results - Andy Lee, David Akers Dominate Special Teams For 49ers

For those that weren't paying attention (likely most of you) the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl turned in its usual offensive fireworks as the AFC blew out the NFC 59-41. Brandon Marshall was the MVP of the game thanks to his six receptions for 176 yards and a Pro Bowl record four touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald looked like he was on his way to an MVP performance with two touchdowns in the first quarter, but the NFC defense fell apart (well, moreso than normal for a Pro Bowl) and Marshall benefited.

The 49ers had numerous participants in the game, but as has been the case much of the season, the special teamers stood out. David Akers successfully attempted two onside kicks, with long snapper Brian Jennings recovering the second one. Andy Lee got in on the action as well, completing a pass to Patrick Peterson on a fake punt that netted a first down.

The Pro Bowl can be a bit of a joke as far as being a truly competitive affair, but it still provides some moments of entertainment.

During the Blitz, launched in partnership with NFL Players and P&G, Pro Bowl players, NFL representatives and local volunteers will take part in four service projects across Oahu on Thursday, January 26 and one on Friday, Jan. 27. The projects are designed to help local children stay healthy and active as part of NFL PLAY 60, the league's campaign to fight childhood obesity, as well as to show support for our nation's military, with four events occurring on military bases around the Island.

Three hundred and fifty students from military bases throughout the Island will participate in Play 60 Youth Football Festivals featuring football, cheerleading and fitness clinics led by NFL Players at Kaneohe Bay Marine Base and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The Blitz will also include a visit with Wounded Warriors and an NFL PLAY 60 equipment donation to Schofield Army Barracks, which will take place on Friday, Jan. 27.

Additional community events planned for Pro Bowl week include a tree planting at Waianae Boys & Girls Club, YET event, an event with 14 Make-A-Wish kids and their families following Friday's Pro Bowl practices, and a YET legacy luncheon.

In the days leading up to Pro Bowl, NFL Charities will also issue grants totaling more than $100,000 to Hawaiian non-profit organizations. The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 29 and televised live on NBC at 7 p.m. ET from Aloha Stadium.

NFC's smart start picks apart AFC in Pro Bowl romp

MVP DeAngelo Hall had one of his team's five interceptions and returned a fumble 34 yards for a touchdown to help the NFC match a Pro Bowl scoring record in a 55-41 victory over turnover-prone AFC in a game not nearly as interesting as the final score might suggest.

AFC quarterbacks Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Matt Cassel each threw first-half interceptions as the NFC blew open a 42-0 lead in a performance ugly even by the historically low standards of this game.

Fittingly for this strange contest, center Alex Mack of Cleveland scored the final touchdown with 16 seconds to play on a 67-yard pass play that featured two laterals.

Carolina's Jon Beason returned the fifth interception thrown by the AFC, and second by Matt Cassel, 59 yards for the NFC's final touchdown to match the single-team scoring record set in the NFC's 55-52 victory in 2004.
