The Giants were one of five teams to join the National Football League in 1925. They are the only remaining NFL member left of those original five.

New York has captured seven NFL titles during its rich history—four from 1927-1956 and three during the Super Bowl era. Only the Packers and Bears have more world championships.

The club currently plays home games at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. New York shares the field with the Jets of the AFC.

The franchise has sent a total of 15 players to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Notable names include Frank Gifford, Y. A. Tittle, Lawrence Taylor and Bill Parcells.

When professional football was in its early stages, many didn't think the quality of the game was up to par. Critics contended the amateur ranks of college football were more competitive. But that changed when the Giants squared off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 1930.

The teams met at the fabled Polo Grounds in New York City. It was a charitable game as $100,000 in proceeds went to feed the homeless and unemployed. But Giants head coach Knute Rockne showed no mercy to the Irish as his team of professionals held Notre Dame to zero points in the victory.

The Giants played another historic game in 1978 but the results weren't as positive. This contest is known as the "Miracle at the Meadowlands."

The Eagles were on the road visiting Giants Stadium and trailing 17-12 with only a few seconds left in the game. Instead of taking a knee and running out the clock, New York quarterback Joe Pisarcik attempted to hand the ball off to tailback Larry Csonka. Csonka fumbled the exchange which was recovered by Philly's Herman Edwards and returned for the game-winning score.

Dating back to 1933, New York and Philadelphia hold one of the deepest rivalries in football. And they had an encore performance of the aforementioned game in 2010. It has become known as the "Miracle at the New Meadowlands."

In Week 15 the Eagles trailed by 21 points with fewer than eight minutes to play. They ripped off three consecutive touchdowns with the help of a couple of Giants miscues and then DeSean Jackson returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown as time expired to produce a final score of 38-31.

A recent bright spot in Giants' history came in 2007 when they entered the playoffs as the Wild Card teamed and then shocked the world by defeating the 18-0 New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII as 14-point underdogs. David Tyree's helmet catch that sustained New York's game-winning drive is one of the most iconic in Super Bowl lore.

After that season, key players Tiki Barber and Michael Strahan retired. Plaxico Burress, who caught the game-winning touchdown, was sent to jail a year later after shooting himself in the leg at a nightclub.

With Eli Manning at the helm, the Giants are perennially a competitive team in the stout NFC East, but they missed the playoffs in 2010 despite a 10-6 record.

New York looked like one of the league's top teams after starting out 6-2 last year but it went 4-4 the rest of the way and couldn't overtake the Saints or Packers for a Wild Card berth. Tom Coughlin was retained as head coach at season's end but running back Brandon Jacobs could be on his way out.

Manning led the league in interceptions last season but many of those were tipped balls. And because of injuries, he had to work with a makeshift group of receivers most of the year. Hakeem Nicks is a promising young wideout on the team.

New York went 7-9 ATS at the wagering window in 2010 and posted a 9-7 over/under record. The New York Giants NFL Vegas odds to win the Super Bowl in 2011 will be around +1800.
