Online College Football Betting Odds - The University of Nevada, Reno began playing college football in 1896. The Wolf Pack currently compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision’s Western Athletic Conference, but will join the Mountain West Conference in 2012.

Nevada has accrued an overall win-loss-tie record of 503-434-34 during its history. The Wolf Pack have won 14 conference titles and appeared in 11 postseason bowls, winning four.

Nevada hosts home games at the 31,000-seat Mackay Stadium. The venue was built in 1966 and replaced grass with FieldTurf as its playing surface in 2000. Stationed on campus, Mackay provides the home team with an altitude advantage as it sits 4,610 feet above sea level.

The Wolf Pack played as an independent until 1925 when it joined the Far West Conference. In 1940, the program went back to independency. It would flip flop between an independent and the FWC until 1979 when it was added to the Big Sky Conference. Nevada remained in the Big Sky until joining the Big West in 1992. When the Big West stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season, the Wolf Pack accepted an invitation to join the WAC.

Nevada won in its first bowl game in 1948 on New Year's Day, defeating North Texas in the Salad Bowl 13-6.

In 1991, Nevada's final season at the FCS level (then called Division I-AA), the Wolf Pack pulled off one of the biggest comebacks in college football history against Weber State. They trailed by 35 points in the second half but Nevada posted 41 answered points to claim a 55-49 victory.

A year later, Nevada joined the FBS’s Big West and became the first team to win a conference championship after moving to a new NCAA Division.

While competing in the Big Sky, Big West and WAC, the Wolf Pack developed an intense rivalry with Boise State. One notable matchup in the series came on October 14, 2007. The two teams would establish an FBS record for total points in a game with 136. The contest went into four overtimes as the Broncos came away with a 69-67 victory.

The most recognizable game in Nevada history was played on November 26, 2010, and has been dubbed "Blue Friday".

Boise State came to Reno ranked No. 4 in the BCS poll and had a 24-game win streak on the line. Nevada trailed 24-7 at halftime but mounted a huge comeback to tie the score at 31 with 13 seconds left in the game. Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore completed a Hail Mary pass to the 9-yard line with two seconds remaining on the clock but kicker Kyle Brotzman missed a 26-yard field goal as time expired.

Brotzman would shank another chip shot in overtime, opening the door for Nevada’s Anthony Martinez to boot a victory-clinching 34-yard field goal. The loss for Boise ended the hopes of playing for a national championship. The win was undoubtedly the biggest in the history of the Nevada program and the Pack would go on to claim a share of the WAC title that season.

Chris Ault, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, is the most notable head coach in Nevada history. He has guided the program on three separate occasions, spanning a career of more than 25 years and 200 wins.

Ault is considered the father of the "Pistol Offense." While regularly used by teams like UCLA, Indiana and Hawai?i, most schools in the NCAA ranks don’t operate the pistol. Because of this, it is often difficult for opponents to prepare for such an unorthodox system.

Reaping the benefits of the run-heavy offense, Nevada became the first team in history to have three players eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark in a single season. Members of the Wolf Pack that accomplished the feat in 2009 were Luke Lippincott, Vai Taua and Colin Kaepernick.

In August of 2010, Nevada accepted an invitation to become a member of the Mountain West Conference starting in 2012. The Wolf Pack will join former WAC members Boise State and Fresno State in the MWC.
