WISCONSIN 38 VS OREGON 45

Oregon outruns Wisconsin to win highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever

The Oregon Ducks had waited 95 years to win another Rose Bowl presented by Vizio, and the last few seconds stretched for an eternity. The players in mirrored helmets held each other back on the sideline, waiting on tiptoes for video review to confirm Wisconsin was out of time.

The call went Oregon's way. The Ducks stormed the hallowed field.

Oregon's bowl drought is over. Chip Kelly finally has a BCS trophy. But freshman De'Anthony Thomas is the real prize, writes Gene Wojciechowski.

The Ducks ended 95 years of frustration Monday. And it took every single man on the roster for them to do it, writes Ted Miller.

Wisconsin's X-factor was difference makers. On defense, the Badgers just didn't have enough of them, writes Brian Bennett.

The most futuristic team in college football had buried another bit of history, and that revolutionary offense finally has a shiny trophy that will look right at home among those eye-catching uniforms.

Darron Thomas passed for three touchdowns, De'Anthony Thomas scored on runs of 91 and 64 yards, and the Ducks (No. 5 BCS, No. 6 AP) earned their first bowl victory under coach Chip Kelly, holding off the Badgers 45-38 Monday night in the highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever played.

Indeed: The last time Oregon won the Rose Bowl, beating Penn 14-0 in 1917, the players wore leather helmets, not those shiny numbers that exemplify every innovation the Ducks have created during Kelly's three-year tenure.

Oregon (12-2) showed off that creativity with 621 total yards -- second-most in Rose Bowl history -- against the tough Badgers, playing at its usual frantic pace until the final whistle. Lavasier Tuinei caught eight passes for 158 yards and two TDs for the Ducks, who had no postseason success to show for Kelly's otherwise wildly successful three-year tenure until this landmark offensive performance.

Rose Bowl Game Betting Online: Big Ten Champions and BCS Bowl Game Wisconsin Badgers (11-2) better have shotguns to shoot down these Oregon Ducks (11-2), or they can take the high road as in scoring more points to have a chance.

The 97th Rose Bowl Game last year featured Wisconsin (Rose Bowl Betting favorite) taking on TCU, a non-BCS school that went 12-0 representing the Mountain West Conference (MWC). TCU actually beat this hulking team 21-19 with a team about half the size. Wisconsin led 14-13 at half, and they probably thought the same thing I did; The Horned Frogs have got to be getting worn and beat down by an offensive line that weighs on average 42 pounds heavier per person, so this will be a blowout by mid fourth quarter.

WRONG! I still don’t know how those Horney Toads did it, but it must have something to do with their quarterback that is starting in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals, Andy Dalton. Well, Wisconsin is back, but this year will not be a low scoring affair, and they won’t take the Oregon Ducks lightly….or salted. The Ducks will not be Peking.

This year’s Rose Bowl Game Presented by VIZIO is one of the 3 best College Bowl Games this year and may end up being the best, especially if you like the Big O. NOT Orgasm ya shade tree, and not Omaha, Nebraska (local joke) either. I’m talking about OFFENSE baby (and Rose Bowl Betting Over.)

Oregon is well known for their firepower and ability to roll those points like it’s a basketball game which sets up a great match against Wisconsin’s defense. I don’t think you hear enough about Wisconsin’s offense which is ranked 4th in scoring with 44.62 points a game. Oregon is No. 3 with 46.15 points a game. The Badgers’ QB Russell Wilson and Quack Quack’s RB LaMichael James are 2 of the most dynamic college football players in the NCAA, and we get them both in ONE game, “The Granddaddy of Them All”, the 98th Rose Bowl Game. AWESOME!

The Rose Bowl Stadium is The Grandmommy with the shape that ol’ girl is in. This stadium started having facelifts and enhancements in 1928. Only in California does an engaging gal that satisfies thousands need work done starting at 5 years old. The open end was tightened up and closed to accommodate more people getting in there.

It’s a good thing “The Granddaddy of Them All” has a livelihood that is very prosperous to pay for “The Grandmommy’s” upkeep. In October 2010, a $152 million financing plan for a major renovation was approved. The focus of this head-to-toe overhaul is improving tunnel ingress/egress, improve circulation, increase number of restrooms to provide “premium seating products in a rebuilt press box…”

This will allegedly address key stadium infrastructure needs that will allow the “facility” to operate for decades to “come.” I don’t know about you, but my money is on Granddaddy paid way too much to try and give Grandmommy a tighter look and that new car smell when the body is going to give way in just a matter of time…which is running out.

The BCS No. 5 ranked Oregon’s explosive offense against Wisconsin’s 3rd ranked defense against the pass and 8th ranked defense overall may be the key, but for my Rose Bowl Betting dollars, neither team stops either team which is totally DREAM!

2011 Rose Bowl - TCU denies Wisconsin on late 2-point try to win Rose Bowl

When Tank Carder leaped with perfect timing and swatted Wisconsin's final pass to the turf, the TCU linebacker felt as if he got a boost from every player at every school that never even imagined playing in the Rose Bowl.

Sure, these unbeaten Horned Frogs realized they couldn't win the national title. They still celebrated their perfection on the hallowed Pasadena turf in the name of all the little guys outside the monolithic powers of major college football.
