MISSOURI 41 VS NORTH CAROLINA 24

2012 Independence Bowl Winner - Franklin leads Missouri past UNC in Independence Bowl

They may have done it in a different way, but the Missouri Tigers looked every bit the part of a Southeastern Conference team Monday evening.

In other words, they left the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl with a resounding victory behind a virtuoso performance from dual-threat quarterback James Franklin.

The first-year starter may have termed his performance "mediocre," but to those at Independence Stadium who were chanting, "S-E-C, S-E-C," it was glorious.

Franklin ran for 142 yards, threw for 132 more and accounted for three touchdowns as the Tigers cruised to a 41-24 victory over Atlantic Coast Conference member North Carolina.

"This game I would give myself a B, maybe a B-minus," said Franklin, whose team will move into the SEC next season. "Everyone played well. The offensive line was blocking. (Wide receiver) T.J. (Moe) got a big hit on one of my scrambles. They helped me look like I played amazing when really I played mediocre."

Every time North Carolina (7-6) made a move, Missouri (8-5) had the answer — mostly in the personas of Franklin and Moe.

College football Betting Online: The teams playing here, the Missouri Tigers and the North Carolina Tar Heels both have 7-5 records this year, but don’t start firing on your Independence Bowl Wagering before you check out their opponents. Both teams have losses to top teams, or they wouldn’t be invited to The AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl. The fireworks for this one start Monday, December 26, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. ET. If you like jambalaya you may as well go to the game at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana and get your gumbo ON! Independence Bowl Betting Online: North Carolina (7-5) takes on a team in the Independence Bowl that probably has an apartment in the stadium they go there so much, Missouri (7-5).

Missouri will be Independence Bowl bound for the third time in eight years. This will be the last game the Tigers (Tiger Woods finally won a tournament again BTW) play as a member of the Big 12. They will now be part of the Southeastern Conference which will soon be larger than the NCAA itself. This year will also be the 6th straight BCS Championship WON by an SEC team.

I was ready to get down (negative, not betting yet) on the matchup here for my Independence Bowl Wagering, thinking The North Carolina Tar Heels can only play hoops since they lost 4 of their last 6 games played this year. Don’t cut down the net yet Missouri (wrong sport-I know but bear with me), because the teams were Miami (Fla.), Clemson, North Carolina St. and Virginia Tech.

This college bowl game started in 1976 in honor of the USA’s 200th birthday. I always appreciate and support anything supporting and recognizing our veterans both past and present. It feels as if I’m talking in doubles in doubles. I seriously wonder how many people actually know what we are celebrating on July 4th every year besides fireworks, grilling, drinking and emergency rooms. This Bowl Game knows – it’s Independence.

The Independence Bowl sports some great players every year that end up playing on Sundays cashing in on talent and hard work from these college days. The MVP list from the years includes Kevin Faulk (LSU) now playing RB for the Patriots and Eli Manning (Ole Miss) now playing QB for the New York Giants.

I remember the 2002 Independence Bowl, because the Nebraska Cornhuskers traveled south to battle the Ole Miss Rebels in a game I thought Nebraska would dominate (biased.) At that time I didn’t know what future NFL Pro Bowler would lead the Rebels to a 27-23 victory. His name was Eli Manning. OUCH!

Mississippi loves to come to Louisiana and get their Independence going. They have been here more than any team, and next time will be there 6th.This college bowl game will not have them, but they will have their cousin, Missouri.

Whichever team you choose to make your Independence Bowl Wagering on, remember our forefathers that made it possible to have our freedom to choose.

2010 Independence Bowl - Jared Tew's TD run helps Air Force win Independence Bowl

Air Force was struggling to run the ball and failed to convert a few great opportunities in the passing game. Instead of growing frustrated and losing focus, the Falcons kept plugging along.

Their persistence paid off.

Air Force cashed in when Georgia Tech muffed a punt in the second half of the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl, getting a go-ahead touchdown run from Jared Tew in a 14-7 victory Monday.
