2011 Chick-fil-A Bowl Winner - Auburn got its bowl victory, but there's still work to be done for Gene Chizik and the Tigers

There was the feel-good story of quarterback Barrett Trotter and the success of running back Onterio McCalebb in Auburn's 43-24 win over Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Saturday night.

Auburn awoke today with the victory and the promise of a more experienced team for 2012. And some questions that still need to be answered.

Coach Gene Chizik wasn't sure whether to call Saturday's game the last win of 2011 or the first step toward next season, but he does know some of the distractions at the end of this season will be addressed.

Auburn will hire offensive and defensive coordinators to replace the already-departed ones soon enough. It will determine if 1,000-yard rusher Mike Dyer will return from his indefinite suspension. It will have a feel for next year's starting quarterback, maybe, for Trotter's return from the hinterlands in the bowl game only created more questions for the most important position on the team.

Chizik can begin addressing those issues in short order. He'll hire a replacement for offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, and he'll cede his status of fill-in defensive coordinator to a real one.

Auburn held Virginia to seven points in the second half, which was a pleasant development, but the bowl win can't disguise the fact the defense allowed the most yards in school history this season.

2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl - Florida State holds off turnover-prone South Carolina in Chick-fil-A Bowl

E.J. Manuel's days as a backup appear to be over.

Manuel threw a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to stop a South Carolina rally and lead Florida State to a 26-17 victory over the turnover-plagued Gamecocks in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Friday night.

Manuel took over after senior quarterback Christian Ponder left early in the second quarter with a concussion. The sophomore looks ready to assume the starting role next season.
