UFC 144: Japan MMA Betting OddsBookmark and Share

UFC 144 Japan Betting OddsUFC Betting Online: On Saturday, Feb. 25, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will showcase live from Japan for the first time. UFC 144's main card is completely stacked with some of the organization’s best fighters, plus the lightweight title will be on the line. We say the new year is already off to a great start.

Everybody that follows the Ultimate Fighting Championship circuit has to be anticipating Frankie Edgar returning as a favorite by UFC 144 Japan Odds versus Benson Henderson. This UFC Lightweight title fight is of course in Japan at the Saitama Super Arena on Saturday, February 25, 2012 broadcast on pay-per-view starting at 10:00 p.m. ET. BookMaker has Internet Sportsbook Lines up right now for this.

UFC 144 Japan Betting Online: Frankie Edgar is one name in MMA fights that bring people to arenas and stadiums to see it live even if it is UFC 144 Japan, because Benson Henderson is a taller order.

Frankie “The Answer” Edgar (14-1-1) vs Benson “Smooth” Henderson (15-2-0)

Benson is 3 inches taller than the pound for pound best fighter (Dana White is wrong that Anderson Silva is number 1) in MMA Fighting or UFC, but that doesn’t make him the favorite in this Lightweight Title Fight by UFC 144 Japan Odds at BookMaker.

Madison Square Garden is where Edgar wants to fight in the same way that Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier, and I believe this little fireplug will end up doing it. New York is one of the funny states left that still doesn’t regulate Mixed Martial Arts (MMA for anyone who just lost 10 years of memory).

What I like most about Frankie is his humble confidence. That may sound funny, but when he says “I’m comfortable saying ‘I’m the best in the world,’ there doesn’t seem to be the usual arrogance that comes with a statement like that.

Edgar is -130 is a slight favorite over Henderson +100 at BookMaker in a treat for Japan which has to ramp(age) popularity uppity up for the future fighters in Japan.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-9-0) vs Ryan “Darth” Bader (13-2-0)

Known as B.A. Barracus from the ‘A-Team’ to many of you mutants, Jackson is a beast that is one of the physically strongest men in MMA fighting. He is such a heavy hitter that one way or another this fight will not go the full distance to the cards. He is not known for submissions, but neither is his opponent much, Ryan Bader.

Bader is another collegiate All-American wrestler from Division I moving up for MMA fighting and what they ultimately hope is glory. I have to give him a slight edge in the wrestling area, but it is not as wide as you think in the Octagon, especially against Quinton overseas.

Japan is no stranger to “Rampage” Jackson where he fought in Japan exactly 6 years ago and campaigned to be back there. The fan base could be the slight edge the MMA superstar needs over the rising and possible future star Bader.

Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt (7-7-0) vs Cheick Kongo (27-6-2)

Frenchy Kongo will try to put Mark (good thing name is not Mike) Hunt into a losing record for his career. Hunt is a powerful fighter, but seriously he is giving up 6 inches in height but weighs 15 pounds more.

Unless Kongo puts on one of those Sumo suits and lays down (which would actually be true French spirit) like a little bitch, I don’t see how the “Super Samoan” comes away with anything but a 7-8 record in the second round at the LATEST.

Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-4-0) vs Jake Shields (26-6-1)

The biggest star in MMA Fighting from Japan fighting in UFC Japan is Akiyama dropping weight divisions to fight Jake Shields as a welterweight.

Shields is known widely for his conditioning and I would guess Akiyama is looking to take him out in the first or second round by submission if he can get the chance. With Shields diverse jiu jitsu and grappling skills, that is going to be a tough task to tend to.

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (12-2-0) vs Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (20-6-0)

The former WEC Champion Anthony Pettis is doubtful to be a quick snack for Joe Lauzon in this lightweight bout. Lauzon made minced meat out of Melvin Guillard in his last match with a 67-second submission victory.

You may remember Pettis from his “Showtime Kick” at the last WEC event when he came aerial off the cage to knock Ben Henderson (UFC 144 Japan challenger to Frankie Edgar’s belt on same card above) flat on his behind. If he does that to Lauzon here, I would call it a “Joe Dirt.”

Whether you call this UFC 144, UFC Japan or UFC 144 Japan, the lineup is a bonanza for MMA Betting fans everywhere. BookMaker brings you as many Sportsbook lines as possible including UFC 144 Japan Odds.
