MMA Betting Online: Featherweight world champion Pat Curran will make his first title defense when he faces off with Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire as the Bellator 73 main draw on Friday, August 24th, 2012 at Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. Curran is the slight favorite at -140, although the oddsmakers believe this matchup could be very competitive. Pitbull is just a +110 underdog in Bellator gambling.
Pat Curran has a career record of 17-4 with seven wins by decision and five apiece by knockouts and submission. Curran lost the Bellator Lightweight Championship fight to Eddie Alvarez on April 2nd, 2011, but rebounded to navigate his way through the featherweight tournament to pick up the championship with a win over Joe Warren by knockout last time out on March 9th. Curran has now won four consecutive fights as he faces Freire.
Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire is 17-1 in his career, including seven wins by submission and six by knockout. His lone loss came against Joe Warren on a split decision on June 24th, 2010 in the Bellator Season 2 Featherweight finals. Freire has won his past three fights to get a shot at the featherweight title against Curran.
Both of these fighters have done well and are in the primes of their careers. This should be a very exciting matchup between Pitbull and Curran in Bellator gambling.
