Demetrious Johnson has also lost to Cruz in a bantamweight championship, and took an interesting road to get this flyweight title shot. He fought Ian McCall in the semifinals on March 3rd, but it was ruled a draw. The two had to fight again on June 8th and Johnson won by unanimous decision to get this matchup with Benavidez. Johnson has a career record of 15-2-1 with six submissions, six decisions and three knockout victories.

Benavidez had the easier path here and has gotten more rest recently, which both seemingly play into the reason why he is the favorite against Johnson in boxing wagering.
