Stage 13 Results
Venezuela’s José Rujano (Androni) clinched the 13th stage of the Giro d’Italia, finishing just ahead of race leader Alberto Contador at the Grossglockner summit finish in Italy. These two riders finished almost 90 seconds clear of Ag2r’s John Gadret, whose team-mate Hubert Dupont was a surprise third, just ahead of Igor Antón.
The main losers on today’s stage came in 1-36 down. Roman Kreuziger led them in, with Michele Scarponi and Vincenzo Nibali just behind him. None of them had been able to emulate Rujano by following Contador’s attack 8.5km from the finish and all of them are now more than three minutes down on the Spaniard. His overall lead now stands at 3-09 on second-placed Nibali, with Scarponi third at 3-16.
