Upset TKO Proves Swift Is Real Deal
If the 24-0 record didn't have you convince that Danny "Swift" Garcia was the next great up-and-coming light welterweight boxer, his fourth-round TKO over the favored Amir Khan certainly did.
Khan had lost just two fights coming into Saturday's bout, one of which was a highly controversial split-decision loss to Lamont Peterson.
Before the fight, Garcia was a largely unknown but extremely talented boxer from Philadelphia. Now, at the very least, he has his foot in boxing's door, and is surely looking to bust the hinges off in the future.
Garcia made Khan look bad in the final two rounds at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. Sure, Khan looked faster for most of the night, but that's his method of operation. "Swift" was far more tactical and precise than the man he floored multiple times.
The former champion wasn't at his best, but Garcia took advantage of his miscalculations. The undefeated champion had a better gameplan than the man he felled in Round 4.
Boxing Betting Lines: If you're looking for the best advice for boxing betting, you've certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook, we're previewing the matchup between Amir Khan and Danny Garcia in a junior welterweight bout on Saturday, July 14th, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Boxing Betting Online: Amir Khan had his plans derailed with a loss to Lamont Peterson last time out and will attempt to get things back to normal in a junior welterweight bout against Danny Garcia on Saturday, July 14th, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Even though Garcia is undefeated in his career, Khan is still a sizable favorite to win this fight at -600. Garcia is currently being wagered on as a +450 underdog in boxing betting.
Amir Khan is 26-2 in his career but lost a controversial decision to Lamont Peterson in his previous fight. There was set to be a highly-anticipated rematch, but Peterson failed a drug test and the bout was called off. Khan's plan was to defeat Peterson the first time around in the 140-pound weight class and then move up for a matchup with Floyd Mayweather. He may eventually get that high-profile matchup, but will need to beat Garcia and then try to work out the particulars. Khan lost his WBA and IBF belts with the loss to Peterson.
Danny Garcia has a career record of 23-0 with 14 knockouts. He defeated Erik Morales in his most recent fight to capture the WBC light welterweight championship, winning by unanimous decision. Garcia also has a recent win over Kendall Holt, but this will be his toughest opponent..
Khan has a proven track record and is one of the world's best fighter. He has beaten Zab Judah recently and wants a shot at Mayweather. However, the loss to Peterson set him back and he will look to move forward again with a victory as the favorite against Garcia in boxing betting.

Strikeforce Betting – Rockhold vs. Kennedy
The Rose Garden in Portland, OR will be the place for MMA betting aficionados to be on Saturday, July 14th when Strikeforce Rockhold vs. Kennedy headlines what will be an impressive nine-fight card in the main event. The main card will air on Showtime while the prelims will be shown live on Showtime Extreme.
Headlining this impressive line-up will be the middleweight title fight between Luke Rockhold ( 9-1-0, -300 ) and Tim Kennedy ( 14-3-0, +240 ). These two fighters were supposed to meet earlier this year, but Kennedy pulled up lame with an injury. So instead, Rockhold was forced to collide with Keith Jardine. Though he ultimately came out triumphant, the win came with an injury after he suffered a broken hand which once again pushed this match back even further.
Of Rockhold's nine overall wins, six have come by way of submission, two by way of KO or TKO, and one by way of decision. His lone defeat came against Tony Rubalcava back in 2007 in a match that saw him get TKO'd in the 1st round by way of punches in the "Melee on the Mountain" extravaganza. The 27-year old stands 6' 3" tall and weighs in at a chiseled 185 pounds. He's won each of the last eight times he stepped into the octagon.
His opponent - Tim Kennedy – enters his 18th professional fight having won each of his last two decisions. The first came against Melvin Manhoef whom he submitted in the 1st round on the undercard of Feijao/Henderson , and the second came on the Fedor/Henderson undercard where he won by unanimous decision against Robbie Lawler. Though the 32-year old also checks in at 185 pounds, he'll have a steep hill to climb being that he's only 5' 11" tall.
Also throwing punches this evening will be Tyron Woodley ( 10-0-0, -105 ) and the more seasoned Nate Marquardt ( 31-10-2, -125 ) who will go at it for the right to hoist the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title.
The rest of tonight's card includes Lorenz Larkin/Robbie Lawler, Roger Gracie/Keith Jardine, Jorge Misvadal/Justin Wilcox, Jason High/Nate Moore, Ryan Couture/Joe Duarte, Pat Healy/Mizuto Hirota, and Jordan Mein/Tyler Stinson.
Be there or be square! Don't miss out on this tantalizing Strikeforce betting card!
