Vitali Klitschko def. Manuel Charr by TKO (Cut) in Round Four
Few people in the boxing world gave previously-unbeaten Manuel Charr much of a chance against reigning WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in their bout today (Sat., Sept. 8, 2012) in Moscow, Russia, and while it wasn't quite the protracted beating everyone expected, things were pretty definitive.
The first three rounds consisted almost entirely of the 6'8" Klitschko bouncing jabs and straights off Charr's tight guard, scoring a questionable knockdown in the second round on a counter right. Charr had occasional success when he attempted balls-out rushes, but generally just could not reach his giant opponent's head.
In the fourth round, Klitschko caught Charr with an extremely tight left hook as the latter ducked in, opening a cut above his right eye. Though it didn't look too awful, the doctor thought otherwise and waived the bout off.
Charr threw a fit, but is the recipient of Klitschko's 41st career stoppage.
Boxing Betting Lines: If you're looking for the best advice for boxing wagering, you've certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook, we're previewing the WBC heavyweight title fight between Vitaly Klitschko and Manuel Charr on September 8th, 2012, at the SC Olympiyski Arena in Moscow, Russia.
Boxing Betting Online: Could this be it for Vitaly Klitschko? With political ambitions beckoning, the heavyweight champion may be putting his belt on the line for the final time when he faces off with Manueal Charr on September 8th, 2012 at the SC Olympiyski Arena in Moscow, Russia. Klitschko is 40 years old now and is interested in a career in politics. If he wins an elected office, he will put fighting behind him, so this could be his swan song, depending on his success at the voter booth. If Klitschko does retire after this bout he would certainly prefer to go out as a winner, and he will be the favorite to defeat Carr in boxing wagering.
Vitaly Klitschko has a career record of 44-2 and has won the heavyweight championship three separate times. He most recently became the WBC heavyweight title holder with a victory over Samuel Peter on October 11th, 2008. Klitschko has defended that championship in eight straight appearances, most recently with a unanimous decision victory over Dereck Chisora. Klitschko has 40 knockouts in his career and his only two losses have come to Chris Byrd and Lennox Lewis, neither in the past eight years.
Manuel Charr is 21-0 with 11 knockouts, but has not faced the same type of competition as Klitschko. This is a big step up for him and would be a shocking victory if he can pull off the upset. Charr won the vacant WBC International Silver heavyweight title by defeating Marcelo Luiz Nascimento on November 18th, 2011, and then retained it with a unanimous decision win over Taras Bidenko in his last fight at the end of March.
Charr is undefeated so he can’t be taken lightly, but Klitschko has been handling challengers to his crown for years. Klitschko is 40 years old but he is still at the top of his game professionally and it will take a big-time effort from Charr to knock him off in boxing wagering.
