NCAA baskeball Betting Online: Texas has some regrouping to do after a tough end to last season and the loss of some significant talent off last year's squad. The Longhorns went 27-7 last season, but lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Arizona in a game that they were leading late. Texas went 13-3 in Big XII play, which was the second-best mark in conference behind Kansas and looked like a possible contender for the national title, but bowed out early. The main playmakers on this team will be different from a season ago, as the Longhorns saw three players get drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. Jordan Hamilton led the team in scoring last year with 18.6 points per game and added 7.7 rebounds. He was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks with the 26th overall selection. Tristan Thompson averaged 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds and was picked No. 4 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cory Joseph (10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists) was the other first round draft pick out of Texas, taken 29th by the Spurs. Gary Johnson was a senior and Texas will also lose him after he averaged 11.5 points and 6.8 rebounds a year ago.

The Longhorns have a lot of talent to replace, but the team does have some young playmakers ready to step in. Texas will be led by junior guard J'Covan Brown, who averaged 10.4 points and 2.1 assists per game last season. He has been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team and should be the team's central focus. Big things are expected out of incoming recruit Myck Kabongo, who should be the team's starting point guard right away. Fellow freshmen Julien Lewis and Jonathan Holmes may also be able to make an impact right away.

Texas is going to have to prove itself this season without Hamilton, Joseph and Thompson. However, the Longhorns almost always have talent, and the duo of Kabongo and Brown is a good start. It's unknown just how good this team can be, so watch them closely early on in NCAA basketball betting.
