If you're looking for the best advice to beat the NCAA basketball wagering odds, you've certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook, we're previewing the college basketball season, taking a look at 2011 NCAA Tournament participant the Purdue Boilermakers.
NCAA baskeball Betting Online: Much of the Purdue Boilermakers' fortune this year will reside on Robbie Hummel and his knee. The team's star forward has torn his anterior cruciate ligament twice and missed all of last season because of it, but is returning for a fifth season with the team. When healthy, Hummel has been a very good college basketball player. In 2009-10, Hummel averaged 15.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and shot 90.2 percent from the free throw line. It remains to be seen how well Hummel returns from the two serious injuries, but if he can come back effectively, it certainly makes the team much more dangerous.
Purdue went 16-8 last season but was upset by Virginia Commonwealth in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Boilermakers finished 14-4 in the Big Ten, which was the second best mark behind Ohio State in conference play. Purdue was led last season by E'Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson, but will need to replace both of them this season. Johnson averaged a team-high 20.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game last year. Moore averaged 18.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists a season ago. That's where Hummel steps in, as his scoring and rebounding abilities will be greatly needed. No other Boilermaker player averaged in double figures in scoring last season, but the team does have quite a bit of experience coming back. Lewis Jackson, Ryne Smith, D.J. Byrd, Kelsey Barlow and Terone Johnson all averaged more than 19 minutes per game last year and will return.
The loss of Johnson and Moore is a big one, but Purdue hopes that the return of Hummel and the maturation of last year's role players can result in another solid season for the Boilermakers in NCAA basketball wagering.
