NCAA baskeball Betting Online: The Kansas Jayhawks made the Elite Eight in last season's March Madness, but it was a hollow ending because the team was one of the favorites to win the national championship. Instead, the season ended at the hands of Virginia Commonwealth for only the team's second loss in 34 games. Kansas is hoping it can shake off that loss and be in contention again for the crown in 2011-12.

Kansas has to replace its two best players, twins Marcus and Markieff Morris. Both were selected in the first round of the NBA draft and it will be tough to replicate their production. Marcus Morris led the team in scoring last week with 17.2 per game and added 7.6 rebounds. Markieff Morris scored 13.6 points with a team-high 8.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest. The team will also have to replace Tyrel Reed (9.7 points) and talented freshman Josh Selby, who only averaged 7.9 points per game last season but had the talent to be a star. Tyshawn Taylor is back after averaging 9.3 points and 4.6 assists per game last year. The Jayhawks lost a lot of talent from last year's team, so will be relying on some current players to expand their role and the incoming freshman class. Small forward Ben McLemore leads that group, as he is expected to be an immediate contributor.

Without Markieff and Marcs Morris, it will be an adjustment for the Jayhawks early on. Last year's team was stacked and was one of the leading contenders for the national title all season but came up short. Kansas likely won't have the same preseason accolades as last year, but the program is traditionally strong and will have some solid players on the court. It remains to be seen how they will perform in NCAA basketball gambling.
