NCAA Basketball Duke Blue Devils BettingNCAA baskeball Betting Online: Duke's season started well last year, but ultimately ended up as a disappointment. The Blue Devils won 26 of their first 28 games, but lost three of their final nine, including getting upset by the Arizona Wildcats in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. Despite the setback last season, Duke is still one of the best basketball programs in the country, and despite some defections, will re-stock for another chance at a national championship.

The team's biggest loss will be Kyrie Irving, the first overall pick in the NBA draft. Irving, a point guard, averaged 17.4 points and 5.1 assists last year but played only 11 games because of injury. Nolan Smith also leaves after scoring a team-high 20.6 points per game last year. The team's other double digit scorer, Kyle Singler, is also gone, so this team will have a significantly new look this year. However, there is plenty of talent waiting in the wings.

Seth Curry, the little brother of NBA point guard Stephen Curry, averaged 9.0 points for Duke last year and will return. As do twin brothers Mason and Miles Plumlee, who will patrol the paint. Mason Plumlee averaged 7.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game last season. Their little brother, Marshall Plumlee, a heralded recruit, will be a freshman this season. The team's most heralded incoming player is Austin Rivers, who is expected to contribute heavily this season.

Duke may not have as much experience this season without Singler and Smith, but the Plumlees, Curry, Rivers and Andre Dawkins have a lot of talent and will have no trouble keeping the Blue Devils among the top contenders in the Atlantic Coast Conference and in the nation. There is more uncertainty because this is a younger group, and it remains to be seen who will shoulder the majority of the scoring load, but make no mistake, Duke will once again be a favorite in the majority of its games this season in NCAA basketball betting.
