NBA Betting Online: The Washington Wizards are a franchise that were once accustomed to the NBA Finals. In the 1970's, the team then known as the Bullets were the only squad to reach the NBA Finals four times in the decade. 1978 saw the Bullets rise from an average record to shock the world and earn the franchise its first and only NBA Championship.

For over a decade after their NBA Finals win, the Bullets struggled to find a face for their franchise. Then, in 1994, the Bullets made two huge moves, trading for Chris Webber and drafting Juwan Howard, to reunite two of the Fab Five in Washington D.C. After a few years of injuries, Webber finally performed as advertised, leading the team in scoring for several years and earning the Bullets their first playoff appearance in eight years, the longest playoff-less streak in franchise history.

After changing names to the Wizards because of the owner's insistence that Bullets was too violent, especially for a town with such a high murder rate, things went downhill. The Wizards missed the playoffs for seven straight years before the trio of Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Larry Hughes brought the playoffs back to D.C.

Now, with that trio dismantled, the weight of the franchise falls on speedy point guard John Wall. The first overall pick in 2010 had a successful rookie season, though he will need to improve his jump shot to become an all around threat. If it were not for the phenom that is Blake Griffin, Wall likely would have won the Rookie of the Year award.

Look for his second year to be a jumping off point for what should be a long, exciting career. Watch for the Wizards to take a big step forward this season behind the improved play of Wall.
