NBA Betting Online: It must be hard being a fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves. While you can look back on the years of Kevin Garnett with a sense of nostalgia, any golden hue you imagine around those teams is largely created after the fact, as that period was one of constant disappointment.
Garnett is, without question, the best player in T-Wolves history, and with his skills he brought Minnesota to heights previously unmatched. However, those heights were mostly a series of first round knockouts. In an unprecedented level of bittersweet finishes, Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves went on a run that lasted from the mid-90's into the early 2000's, in which they lost in the first round of the playoffs in seven straight years.
Finally, in 2004, following the first MVP award for Kevin Garnett, the T-Wolves, seeded first overall, made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals, where they eventually lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, it was the beginning of the end, as they failed to reach the playoffs the next three years in a row. This resulted in the team finally trading away Garnett, receiving a smorgasbord of young players and draft picks from the Boston Celtics, only to see Garnett hoist the Championship trophy the next year clad in Celtic green.
Since the trade, the Timberwolves have been atrocious. Now, however, they have a new All-star power forward in Kevin Love, a dynamic rebounder and skilled scorer, though he has been unable to carry the team to any real success.
The upcoming season, however, could prove to be a step forward, as Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio finally joins the team after being drafted two years ago, and second overall pick Derrick Williams from Arizona brings some much needed scoring punch to the roster. Look for the Wolves to improve this year, though hoping for the playoffs may be a bit much.
