NBA Betting Online: The Golden State Warriors were originally founded in 1946. The team currently plays in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.

The Warriors have claimed three championships (2 NBA), six conference titles and a pair of division titles in their history. They play home games at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The arena is the NBA's oldest venue.

The Warriors originated in Philadelphia in 1946. There they won the inaugural season of the Basketball Association of America under head coach Eddie Gottlieb and scoring leader Joe Fulks.

The BAA would eventually become the NBA in 1949, and the Warriors captured their first title in this league in 1955-56. With future Hall of Famers Paul Arizin, Michael Bryson and Neil Johnston on the roster, Philadelphia defeated the Fort Wayne Pistons in the Finals in five games.

In 1959, the team signed Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain, who would become the fourth-highest scorer in the history of the game. During one contest in March of 1962, Chamberlain scored 100 points against the New York Knicks, which still stands as the NBA single-game record.

The Warriors relocated to the California Bay Area in 1962 and became known as the San Francisco Warriors. The 1963-64 season brought a division title but the Warriors would lose in the NBA Finals to Boston.

After trading away Chamberlain the following year, San Francisco only managed to win 17 games. But help was on the way as Rick Barry was drafted in 1965. In his rookie season, Barry took the Warriors back to the Finals where they lost to Chamberlain and the 76ers.

The franchise changed its name for the last time prior to the 1971-72 season, becoming the Golden State Warriors. They are one of only two teams in the four major American sports that do not include their state or their city in their name. The New England Patriots are the other.

Golden State advanced to the playoffs every season but once from 1971 to 1977. The team won its last championship in 1975 with head coach Al Attles and players like Barry, Jamaal Wilkes and Phil Smith. Some consider the four-game sweep of the heavily favored Washington Bullets the biggest upset in NBA Playoffs history.

Don Nelson coached the Warriors during a successful run in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His no-defense approach to basketball created a high-scoring offensive trio of Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin. Draft pick Chris Webber was added for the 1993-94 season and Golden State made the postseason.

Nelson's second stint with the Warriors came in 2006. The team hadn't been to the playoffs since the 1993-94 campaign but it closed out the regular season with a 16-5 run to qualify that year, sparking a "We Believe" pandemic throughout the Bay Area.

Nelson's run-and-gun style ran right over the Dallas Mavericks, his previous team, in the first round of the playoffs. The Warriors, with players like Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, Matt Barnes Jason Richardson, Monta Ellis, Al Harrington and Andris Biedrins, became the first 8-seed to be a 1-seed in a seven-game series in NBA history.

The franchise came under new ownership in July of 2010 when Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment and his partner Joe Lacob purchased it for $450 million.

Golden State's current roster is comprised of talented players like Ellis, Stephen Curry, David Lee, Dorell Wright and Ekpe Udoh. Mark Jackson, a 17-year NBA veteran, was named head coach on June 6, 2011. Under the Lacob-Guber ownership group, most analysts believe the Warriors are a team on the rise.
