MLB Betting Online: The World Series is a culmination of the long baseball regular season, and soon eight teams will by vying for the title. Six teams are set. The New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers have clinched their divisions and will be playoff entrants in the American League. The Boston Red Sox currently lead the AL wild card chase, but are being chased closely by the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Texas made the World Series last season and would like to repeat that performance, although the Yankees, Tigers and whichever team wins the wild card will all certainly be formidable foes. New York has one of the best offenses in the majors and a Cy Young-caliber pitcher in C.C. Sabathia leading the rotation, so it may be looked at as the favorite.

In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks have clinched their divisions and will be involved in postseason play. The wild card is coming down to the Atlanta Braves, the current leaders, and the St. Louis Cardinals. The San Francisco Giants are the defending World Series champions out of the National League, but the team didn't get enough hitting this year and will not return to the playoffs. The Phillies are the favorites to advance to the World Series from the N.L., led by their starting rotation. Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels are all Cy Young candidates, and a strong rotation is a big advantage in the postseason.

The World Series has produced many great moments, and now it is right around the corner. Monitor the playoffs closely and get in on the MLB baseball betting as the World Series gets started on Wednesday, October 19.
