St. Louis Cardinals Betting OddsMLB Baseball Betting Odds: The St. Louis Cardinals were founded in 1882 as the St. Louis Red Stockings. They joined the National League in 1892 and became known as the Cardinals in 1900. St. Louis has traditionally been one of the top teams in the National League, and has 10 World Series titles in its history, which is the most ever by a team in the league. That total trails only the New York Yankees’ 27 for the most in Major League Baseball history. St. Louis was the first team since the Yankees in 1923 to win the World Series in the first year in its new ballpark when it accomplished the feat in 2006 in Busch Stadium.

Stan Musial is one of the most recognizable Cardinals. He played for the team for 22 years and won three Most Valuable Player awards. Musial helped lead the Cardinals to three straight pennants from 1942-44, and St. Louis won two of them to boost its total to five overall. The Cardinals won another one in 1946, defeating the Boston Red Sox in seven games. St. Louis had another period of success in the 1960s behind Lou Brock and Bob Gibson. The Cardinals captured World Series titles in 1964 and 1967.

The 1980s were led by defensive wizard Ozzie Smith. The Cardinals won the World Series in 1982, and made it there but lost in 1985 and 1987. The team didn’t have as much success in the 1990s, but the Cardinals were home to Mark McGwire, who broke Roger Maris’ home run record in 1998 by blasting 70 round-trippers.

Albert Pujols has been the team’s offensive star for the last several years, and the team continues to remain competitive. Its last World Series championship came in 2006. The Cardinals have been a solid team throughout their existence, and with plenty of talent on the roster, remain a solid bet in MLB baseball wagering moving forward.
