If you're looking for the best advice to beat the MLB baseball betting odds, you've certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook, we’re examining the history of the Houston Astros.
MLB Baseball Betting Odds: The Astros were founded under the name the Colt .45s in 1962. The team changed its name three years later when they moved into the Astrodome, the first domed stadium in the world. The team is named after the city’s famed astronaut program. Houston has had stretches of good success, but is the oldest MLB franchise to never win a World Series.
Houston made the playoffs in 1980, 1981, 1986, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2004 but never advanced to the World Series. The Astros finally made it in 2005, but lost to the Chicago White Sox. The team has had many famous players, including Nolan Ryan, one of the most successful pitchers in big league history. During the team’s successful run in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the team’s offensive leaders were known as the Killer B’s. The biggest stars were Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio, with Lance Berkman also a part of it. The team’s big-time starters during that time period were Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte.
The Astros have fallen on hard times since the retirements of Biggio and Bagwell and the departure of Berkman. Houston has a poor record in 2010 and has a roster with little promise. While this was one of the best teams during the late 1990s and early 2000s, they are in a rebuilding mode now. Until the Astros get a talent infusion, they will be an underdog for the foreseeable future in MLB baseball betting.
