Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Betting Odds
If you're looking for the best advice to beat the MLB baseball wagering odds, you've certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook, we’re examining the history of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
MLB baseball Betting Online: The Diamondbacks played their first season as an expansion team in 1998. Arizona struggled in its first couple years, but it didn’t take the team very long to find success. Behind star veterans like Luis Gonzalez, Matt Williams, Jay Bell, Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson, the Diamondbacks became the youngest team to ever win a World Series championship, doing it in just their fourth year of existence in 2001. Arizona defeated the New York Yankees in seven games, winning the final game on a bloop single by Luis Gonzalez in the bottom of the ninth inning. Johnson and Schilling were named the World Series co-MVPs after dominant performances. The team also won division titles in 1999 and 2002. Arizona plays in Chase Field, a retractable rook stadium in Phoenix that has a swimming pool in right field. It used to be known as Bank One Ballpark.
Arizona fell on some hard times following the early success. With Schilling out of town and Johnson unable to carry the load by himself, the Diamondbacks dropped all the way to 51-111 in 2004. Jerry Colangelo, who played a crucial role in getting baseball to Arizona, was forced to resign amid a monetary dispute during 2004. The Diamondbacks improved some the next couple years, and then returned to the playoffs in 2007 with a group of young position players and a pitching staff led by Brandon Webb. Arizona finished that season with a record of 90-72, the best record in the National League, and advanced to the National League Championship Series before losing to the Colorado Rockies. The Diamondbacks started 2008 with a 20-8 record, but finished the year at 82-80, second place in the National League West and on the outside looking in of the playoff picture.
In 2009, the Diamondbacks dropped to 70-92, and in 2010 the team finished 65-97. However, the offense matured in 2011, as the team’s young position players that helped make the surprising 2007 playoff run all began to hit their primes. While Arizona was still rebuilding they began to get competitive and seem to have the right core to stay that way for the next few seasons in MLB baseball wagering.
