MLB All-Star Break betting odds: Make like Pete Rose and bet on baseball, as the 2011 MLB All-Star Game comes to you live on Tuesday, July 12 from Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Televised live on FOX, the 82nd annual All-Star game should bring plenty of chills and memories back to the fans, as they watch their favorite stars trot out onto the field for one of the premier traditions in all of sports.
With the balloting still underway, anyone is still eligible, though it is likely you will see some of the traditional superstars, such as Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, and Roy Halladay. Watch as the top players in the game take to the field in a battle between American League and National League that will decide which side gets home-field advantage in the World Series.
While some question the validity of this rule, and even its effectiveness in bringing a competitive edge to the game, the importance of the victory is undoubtable as both sides want their home crowd around them come October.
The first ever All-Star game, played in 1933, was won by the American league at the legendary Comiskey Park in Chicago. The AL took it 4-2 behind strong pitching from Lefty Gomez.
Last year’s All-Star game saw Brian McCann bring home the MVP for the victorious National League at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
It was the first win for the NL since 1996, when John Smoltz and Mike Piazza led them to a 6-0 beatdown of the AL. However, despite the long drought, the National League still leads the series all time at 41-38-2.
Pick your side and use the MLB All-Star game to bet on baseball.
2010 MLB All Star Game Results
The MLB's Midsummer Classic no longer is the exclusive property of the American League, which was knocked out on Tuesday night without a swing from the Yankees' mighty Alex Rodriguez. With Braves catcher Brian McCann delivering the big blow, the National League came from behind to bop the AL, 3-1, in front of 45,408 at Angel Stadium, providing home-field advantage in the World Series for its champion.
This is the first happy ending for the NL in an All-Star Game since 1996, ending a run of seven consecutive AL wins and 12 of 13, interrupted by a draw in 2002.
