MLB All-Star Break betting odds: If you're looking for the best advice for MLB gambling, you've certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook, we're previewing the Major League Baseball all-star game, which is set to take place on July 16th, 2013.
The midsummer classic is quickly approaching as Major League Baseball's stars face off in the All-Star Game on July 16, 2013. This game is more than an exhibition because the league that wins gains home field advantage for the World Series. The starting players for each team are chosen by a fan vote. The bench players are picked by each of the managers, with the final player on each team against chosen in a fan vote between finalists determined by Major League Baseball.
The team's managers are decided by which teams won the league pennants the year before. Even though St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa retired following the 2011 season, he will return to manage this game. He will be only the second retired manager to manage the All-Star game, following John McGraw. The game in Kansas City will be the 83rd installment of the All-Star game.
The player currently leading the All-Star voting is Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton with nearly 2.6 million votes. Hamilton is having an MVP-caliber year, hitting .338 with 22 homers and 61 RBIs. His on-base-plus-slugging-percentage of 1.097 leads the majors. His teammates Adrian Beltre (third base), Ian Kinsler (second base), Nelson Cruz (outfield) and Mike Napoli (catcher) also lead the voting at their respective positions and are in line to start the game. Texas manager Ron Washington will lead the American League. Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers is the current leading vote-getter in the National League.
The American League won 12 consecutive All-Star games from 1997-2009, but the National League has won the past two. This is a fun game to watch as it showcases the MLB's top stars in MLB gambling.
